Dash Camera

Have been thinking about purchasing a dash cam. Does anyone have any experience/recomendations with an after market dash cam?

There is an excellent thread here on the Entegra section about 4 months ago or so. Try the search function.

I would recommend that you seriously consider the DashCams made by Garmin. The Garmin dashcams are quality built, backed by a major aerospace and navigation company that is likely to still be in business selling dash cams 10 years from now, and the color picture and field of view is fantastic. I have had two models, the 10 and the 20. Both units have a continuously looping memory which you can upgrade to I think 32 gig max. The units have a G-force sensor which detects sudden stops or events and automatically records forward in time, and stores a period of time, like 30 seconds before the event and writes it all into a non-erasable part of memory so it can be retrieved. Both have a color monitor built in. The 10 also records audio if you want it to, and the 20 does not record audio but has a vehicle avoidance capability (traveling too close to car in front of you, etc. etc (similar to our MobileEyes on my 15)). The 10 is a great little dashcam. I have pictures of the Garmin 20 mounted on my windshield in the coach showing how it is mounted and how it does not interfere with driver vision (in the earlier thread). I am very happy with mine. I plug it into the dash cigarette lighter plug when I am ready to drive and it records everything until I unplug it that night when I have stopped driving. Very nice unit!
