DAY shades with ignition on

I have searched for some posts on this topic but can't find the answer. Does the DAY shade operate with the ignition on. I understand the safety reason for the NIGHT shade to not operate but the DAY shade is needed when traveling and you turn into the sun blasting through the windshield.

Our previous coach would allow the DAY shade to extend about 60%. After all, why would they locate the DAY shade switches next to the driver if they were not supposed to work due to obstruction of vision?

We are loving our 2015 Aspire and learning all the controls. Thanks for any responses.

Steve,

Yes, with the ignition ON your front and side day shades should operate. Do these shades work at all from the wall switches? The driver console switches may not be powered. Do the passenger switches for the day shades work? The driver console switches have a slight delay prior to moving the shade.

Steve,

I see you have an Aspire. The front shades are powered and should work when the ignition is ON. I do not think your front side shades are powered.

Ok. Something strange is going on. Neither DW or I could get them to work from any switches the other day when rolling along and we pulled into Rest Area and turned off ignition and they came down. Once we got rolling again and no longer needed the DAY shades we were able to retract them with ignition on but they would not extend again.

I just tried them now while sitting in the campsite and they extend with ignition off.

In this Aspire we only have DAY shade switches by the driver and passenger seats and they work fine but seem to have some issues with ignition on.

We keep my eye on this. Thanks

Steve,

Then it sounds like your front day shades are not wired properly. Just for fun try extending your front night shades with the ignition ON.

Like Don said there is a delay, at least on mine with the key on you have to hold the sw on the side console for 3 to 4 seconds before the shades will move. Noel

Winne2008,

If these shades work correctly when the ignition is off, but not when the ignition is on, it may be that you are not holding the switch button long enough.

As stated above, there is a safety feature that kicks in when the ignition is active, and this forces the driver to press and hold the shade down switch, just for safety. Sending these shades up with the ignition on should still work with “One-Touch” operation.

Thanks so much. That was the problem. I was not holding the switch on long enough.

You might be related to my wife. If she touches a button and nothing happens I have to stop her from panicking....
