The deadbolt tip fell off and wondering how difficult a fix it is?

Yes, I get that. Anything to add to that? Called CS, 12 dollar part and a Dyi YouTube vid.

It can be done. I think I gently pried the keeper plate back to get the old one out and the new one in. Its a floating part that's moved with a little bent rod. The problem is that the keeper plate is riveted to the lock housing and that's why I bent the keeper plate just a little bit and then bent it back down. I didn't see any other way to do it other than maybe drill out the rivets and reinstall the plate with some type of screws.

The lock mechanism and housing need to be removed from the door.

Always good to have a spare shank. I have replaced at least four. Not difficult, but you will need a No.#22 star driver bit (I think that's the right one) to remove the anchor screws around the interior mounting plate to get to the inner mechanism. I suggest you inspect and order/replace the striker plate mounted in the door jamb, as it is most likely damaged from having the bolt extended when the door was slammed.

I carry the star driver kit in a cabinet in the dinette, as it also can deal with an emergency deadbolt retraction or handle lock reset from inside the coach if the door ever decides to lock you in!

Question? How does one break four of these? We've fulltimed 7 years and not broke one.

We haven't used the deadbolt since our first night in the coach. We couldn't get the door open the next morning until we called our salesman and he pushed from the outside while we disengaged it. Not worth the trouble.

PTL doors have been known to come open once or twice. We always use the deadbolt when underway, just one more safety factor. A habit we got into with the Travel Supreme to stop the wind noise. If the door will not open when using the deadbolt, the door is out of adjustment. We are fortunate the 21 has the smoothest and quietest of the last 4 PTL doors we have owned.

As Chuck has stated, PTL doors have been known to pop open underway. We always travel with the deadbolt engaged. However, the breaks on our deadbolt have occurred one each at a dealer, the factory, a service shop, and one acquaintance. None were known to be our fault!! The bolt gets extended by some inattentive person, then the door gets slammed on the bolt. Once bent, you cannot straighten the crummy pot metal back straight, it will break.

We have been using a small bungie cord, works good, last a long time. Just a bit cheesy on such a nice coach.

A PTL door that “pops open” while driving is not adjusted properly.

Not sure about your rig but not locking my Tiffin Red deadbolt means someone else with a similar Tiffin could get into my RV. My 2015 Tiffin Red 36QSA was broken into recently by someone having the same entry door key(not deadbolt) and prying open the door causing the deadbolt to snap. I wish I had seen this posting earlier because I ordered the whole door handle unit instead of just replacing the deadbolt.
A friend had his Tiffin Red 33AA parked next to mine at the storage facility so I told him he should check his door to see if anyone had entered his coach the same way. He said he never locked his deadbolt.
To end this saga...I went over to his coach and opened his door using my entry key. It worked! I also showed him that I could open ALL of his baggage doors using my baggage door key.
Same manufacturer, different models but with EXCEPTION of the deadbolt key my keys opened all his locks.
A word to they wise.
