DEF fluid

Just say a post online that Walmart has recalled their brand of DEF fluid along with the Blue Def fluid.
No reason was given just that the were recalling it.

What’s up with that?

Rumors, get it at the truck stops, $2.99 a gallon not $7.

Yep, if it was in an internet post it must be true. Really, you have to take posts with a grain of salt. Unless the post has a link to the recall, it's just an opinion.

A quick Google search on DEF recall or Diesel Exhaust Fluid Recall came up with nothing.

That rumor was going around last year when a RAM truck dealer blamed Walmart DEF for the guys problem with his DEF system. (rumor) I was still buying DEF at Walmart during the last rumor. Link to that rumor post and Walmart recall list site. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/wal...ll-443333.html
Like Lori, no DEF on the recall list.

Don't know about recall but I can tell you that in late August there was a severe shortage of pre-bottled DEF, couldn't find any at three different auto parts shop nor Wally World.

Retailers told me theere was a two-week lead time delay minimum on new shipments due to Covid related production shut downs.

Had no problem with finding bulk DEF at truck stops thank goodness!

I wonder if there is no official recall but there have been so many problems with returned jugs that they are not stocking it.
Does Walmart not have both kinds or just lack the one that is not in a box.
Just bought the box version at Sams Club but costs more than the unboxed Walmart version.

This rumor has been going around for several years. Simple solution is to call Walmart"s main number and ask. With everything being blamed on Covid, I venture to say there is not an issue. You really need to take anything posted with a grain of salt and a shot. Bought 2 containers last week, tested perfect, seals were tight. Buy a tester if you are concerned and end the mystery.

I can tell you that we have been to 5 or 6 different Walmart’s in Southern California and there is NO def anywhere. We went to Orileys Auto parts and they were completely out of def.

A friend in Utah said they had it up there a couple weeks ago

I guess being told by the Walmart employee that Walmart had recalled all DEF wouldn’t be goo enough then. That said, too many reports across the Western US of empty shelves, both store brand and Blue DEF must mean something. BTW, in the three stores I found one, they had removed none of the shelf price labeling.

I tried two Walmarts in N. ID and found ONE one gallon jug. Just overnighted in Mountain Home, and the Wally's employee (when asked) said there was a recall. They had none.

Could be a supply chain thing. The WM near me had full shelves of both theirs & BlueDEF. There was plenty of BlueDEF at my Meijers store too.

Stopped at a WM in Nevada, they had no WM DEF nor the boxed blue DEF. Asked a store employee and he said the boxed blue DEF was taken off a shelf due to a recall.

Stopped at the NAPA store next door and they had lots of boxed blue DEF. Got me 5 gallons even though the price was high.
