DEF tank replacement

Hi gang. Due to a catastrophic failure of my exhaust system while on the freeway, among other heat related damage, my def tank was destroyed (melted). Spartan has told my repair facility that the def tanks are 60 days back ordered. That obviously not acceptable especially since we are full timers!! Do any of you know of another place to get a replacement Def tank? 2016 Entegra anthem 44B...Thanks!!

There is another fellow on here that has had what sounds like exactly the same problem with exhaust failure and melted/destroyed DEF tank. Look for the thread. It appeared within the past month.

Here is that thread: Might help. He's replacing his tank also.

Don't mean to sound negative, but will share a related experience from yesterday. I needed to order Snap Pads for the new coach being delivered. Called Snap Pads, they are sold out and back-ordered for a month. All plastic manufactures in Indiana were closed for 3 months during the pandemic. Started calling around to dealers, found that RV Surplus had one set left.

Ask Spartan of any dealers you might call if you don't find one surplus. Plastic products in the Indiana area are scarce.

Thanks for the response! I can understand there could be some shortages of plastics due to this current ďcrisisĒ, but I would hope that a part that leaves someone stranded for 60 days would be prioritized!! I love my snap pads, but I can still travel without them...My wife just reminded me that this is a first world problem

Sad part about the pandemic and Indiana shutting everything down, it was not discriminatory of how bad a part was needed. The second problem was unemployment was paying more than going back to work, so the plastic manufactures have not been able to get into full production. I hope you are able to find a tank in stock from a dealer or salvage. From what Snap Pad told me, they had to switch their mold company to find one that is back into production. It could be a situation where the line for molded parts is going to get longer.

Maybe an expensive temporary fix? Also might contact that seller to see if he can find the correct one. He is a truck parts dealer. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-SPARTA...-/383281214362

Another thought, there was a shortage of DEF heads awhile back, is your DEF head still usable?

Still thinking after seeing the year of your coach. DEF tank falls under emission which carries a warranty longer that the Spartan 3 year warranty. Since it was a Spartan failure that caused the damage, it is possible they can pull a tank off of a chassis in the yard? Is insurance involved? If so let them put pressure on getting a part.

Found the manufacture of your tank.....maybe they can help? https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/help-with-punctured-def-tank-358746.html
Also a list of tank dealers posted by Richard later in the post.
