DEF usage
Hello gents,
traveling across country in my 2014 Anthem. 2 questions, how many miles should I get for 5 gallons of DEF? I seem to get about 900 miles. Is that in the. Neighborhood? Secondly, in about 50,000 miles since I’ve had the coach I have never seem or noticed a refgen. Comments please
Thanks,
Duncan Holt

If you are running things for a good amount of time, more than a half hour here and there, you will most likely not require a regen. A regen is needed when things start sooting up in the SCR system. This is usually caused by too much idling too often.
Later...

I just drove 1600 miles on 2 1/2 gallons of DEF. I too have never seen a regen in over 50,000 miles.

Me neither. We FT so coach systems constantly working.
DEF sounds about right and similar to my ‘14.

I put 34,000 miles on my 14 and never paid any attention to how much DEF it used. I know it was half of the current Cornerstone. As for regeneration, the only time my coach went into regen was when they were leak checking my dash AC and had the coach idling for a long time. There was no regen light, the coach would not come out of fast idle was the only way I knew if was into regen.

The 15 liter Cummins ISX or X15 does burn twice the DEF that the smaller 9 liter ISL or L9 does. So keep that in mind when any information posted.
For our ISX 600's last trip we got 132 MPG of DEF, which is about 4.5% ratio of DEF to fuel. In the past I've heard posting from others about 3% ratio DEF to fuel on their Anthems so that seems to align pretty well. Of course the DEF to fuel ratio would also depend on how much fuel mileage you get. The MPG drops when you run at higher speeds or get into the mountains. Not sure how much that will affect DEF usage but I assume it has to have some effect.

I am getting low 100’s MPG of DEF with the X15 engine. Fuel mileage is 7.5 when I baby it. About 7.0 when I am pushing higher speeds and accelerations.
I have noticed a couple of regen’s going down the interstate on my 22. I don’t let my coach idle much in campgrounds or at home. I only noticed 1 regen on my 17. But it was easier to miss the regen message on that dash. Or maybe that is all the regen’s I had.

We've got 35K miles on our rig (6.7L Cummins) and haven't noticed any signs of regen.
Been tracking fuel & DEF mileage since new and getting around 8 MPG always towing a 5K Jeep and a little over 200 MPG on the DEF.
