From all I read here and other places it is easy to pick the wrong route to Yellowstone and end up wishing you stayed home!

A MH drive from Rapid City to Devil's Tower area puts us that much closer to Yellowstone for the next leg but I'm not sure we want to tackle the roads and hills.

Then we have to figure out a suitable MH route from Yellowstone to SW Idaho even if it's thru NW Idaho and Oregon.

When you leave W Yellowstone take a look at a map and follow 287 to Ennis, MT. One of the coolest spots in the west. Lots of history here, Lewis & Clark. Indian history, great trout fishing, etc. over the hill from here is Virginia City, the first state Capitol and the whole town is on the national historical registry. We spend 2 months a summer having a fantastic time fishing and learning more every year. Super rv park called Ennis RV Village. Big rig friendly. Mountain views in all directions. 70 mile drive along the Madison river from West Yellowstone.

KOA near Mt Rushmore and if you want primitive camping check out Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone. They have all the amenities but no wifi or cell service. At least that was 2012, we ended up going to Grizzly.

Surprised you mention Fishing Bridge...heard about issues with big rigs and then took a look last year. Don't think I would want to take over 40 ft in there, and they recommend against it as well.

If we wanted primitive camping we would still be camping in a tent! We prefer to take advantage of all the luxuries our Entegra offers!
