Diesel Aqua Hot

When parked do you turn off Aquahot after showers or do you just leave it on for several days? I’ve been told both are ok but just interested in others thoughts.

Depends what the temps are outside. I leave the electric on all the time except when I am on generator. As far as the diesel side, if cold outside I leave it on. That way if the electric is not enough the diesel will kick in.

I have a friend that leaves his on all the time. Even when he has it sitting at the house.

The aqua hot system only comes on when the thermostat calls for a Need.
Electric or diesel.

I let the thermostat work.

I see no need to ever turn either Off.

As much as we use ours.

It can set for a month or a year.

If no one is here to create a demand ?

I see it as the same as the electric or diesel toggles being OFF.

From my point of view.

The only issue is that the Aqua Hot does not have a priority system. So, when the system needs heat, it turns on the electric element AND the burner (if selected). Since electric is normally included in camping fees, and diesel is not, I turn the burner off unless needed.

Nope!

Either your electric element, or diesel burner, or both, are going to fire up occasionally to keep your boiler tank up to temperature.

Correct! No demand is required for the Aquahot to keep the boiler fluid up to temperature. It has to work this way or there wouldn’t be any hot water when you needed it.

We leave them on all the time unless there is a compelling reason not to.

We fooled around with a few different ways to operate the system, and both on simply works.

In fact, my wife complains the water is TOO hot.

X3 listen to how many times the AH fires off when on diesel when it is not even being used.
Turn the burner on while brushing my teeth, shower, turn burner off while shaving.

Check the washing machine hose connection. If it only has one hose (new models) don't even need the AH to do Landry, the machine heats the water.

For the past month the trmps have dipped into the 35 to 45 degree range.

About 3 to 4 am I hear the diesel burner running. Cycling

After 8 to 9 am.

No more

When its above 45 or so.
I never hear it cycle.

Agree, the 19 in Tampa last weekend with temps in the high 60's, no heat on, the aqua hot fired constantly when I forgot to turn the burner off for hot water. Still getting use to the Vega Touch. The Classic the switch was there in the bathroom while shaving.

The older Aqua Hots ,like my 03, had two Thermostats , One for the electric and one for the Diesel burner. The Electric was set to a Higher Temp and could maintain Tank Temp and light use without the burner thermostat calling for firing. You can leave the burner on and it doesn't fire when in "standby" use. Why Aqua switched to using just One Thermostat ( years ago) is a good Question.

I wish ours worked that way. Makes a lot more practical sense.
