Maybe that has been a piece of the problem. I now never talk to regular customer service. For the first 3 months with Direct, I did but most of those people did not understand the difference between a mobile home (e.g. double wide) and a motorhome so could not understand why I needed to switch home locations so often. I started to only ask for technical service because they understood the difference and understood what I was, but then might also understand what service I really needed (mobile account) and didn't have.

Also, the more this discussion goes on, the more I think this is an apples and oranges thing....

I rarely stay in the same place more than a week. Therefore, in a 3 month road trip, I am probably changing my "home location for local channels" about 12 times in 3 months. Every one of those times shows on their screen. Maybe that is part of the issue. Maybe people that are having no problems are not on the road like I am or try to avoid RV park TV channels like I try to avoid (because you dont get a "guide" and therefore, your DVR doesn't know when to record except in real time). There is a reason. I am just trying to educate others who may find themselves in the same position and need an answer and for Direct, DNS is the answer. We watch very little TV, but what we watch, we watch religiously (like the DW's Downton Abbey....... ) so dependability is paramount for us. YEMV
