There is an app that will mirror an Apple phone (or a laptop) to a Samsung TV. I haven't used the phone version, but it works well with my Apple MacBookPro.
You could probably use that to mirror Waze from an Apple phone on the overhead TV. It would have to be a phone (or a tablet) to get the GPS to work.
As a side note, wouldn't it be great if Waze was RV friendly (low trees in 1 mile!).
The app's webpage:

In the case of the laptop---all you need to do is invoke the app and it takes over the TV. You need to do nothing on the TV side of things. It works well with watching movies on the big TV, but on certain video files, it buffers once in a while.
The app shows a dropdown list of Samsung TVs that are turned on---you pick the one you want (usually, only one is on, in my case) and you're good to go.
