I'm not sure if eliminating the DPH42 switch would help, but if your Winegard dish and controller were built after March of 2018, you can use this LNB and not need the switch.
I use it with our Hopper3 without any problems.

They can throw every part in the truck at this, it won't help.
Call Dish and have them change your service address to where you actually are.
Jim. I had this problem back in Ft myers and it remained a problem when I changed my service address to Atkanta

Oneknight is probably on to something. I was recently at Stone Mountain and had SD only for locals. Right now, we're in Thackerville, OK and the locals are from Sherman, TX. SD only...so I told Dish to change my service address to NIRVC (Lewisville) and got Dallas channels in HD. Did the same thing earlier (was in Columbus, GA and got SD; changed address to Savannah and got HD) My recent experience is that much Dish HD is not received by my Travler in eastern areas. Out west seems much better. But, I'm still glad I don't have to deal with DirecTV anymore.

Kenny, do you have any details on this?

Our Trav'ler is a frankenstien. The control box is original (2016 date code) but the turret is new to me (don't know how to identify it's age, it is factory reconditioned)

I'd love to get rid of the DPH42 (mostly just getting rid of extra parts, and only needing/using 1 cable down from the Trav'ler rather than 3)

As compared to using a DPH LNB, and having to unplug the hopper during search, and search taking forever, the DPP LNB / DPH42 combo works way better.

But if the change was in the turret, and I could use the DPH LNB, 1 cable, and lose the DPH42 switch.... and still get fast searches and smooth no hassle operation...

But none of that has anything to do with HD....
