Best thing about Dish ..... it's not part of AT&T. That alone is a win.

Everything Entegra sells comes setup for directTV as said the in motion is only about 20min on the roof to swap the dip switches to set it for Dish. The Travler requires swapping the reflector the LNB arm and reprograming the control box. It also requires rewiring the coax which limits you to 3 receivers without spending even more money. I have converted several from Direct to Dish and start to finish it takes close to 2 hours plus around 350 in parts so in our shop your looking at just under 600 plus tax to have it changed. I have also done a few units where we used both the in motion and the Travler but with Dish that can be a PITA for you as you have to run the check sw everytime you swap antennas.

Was it possible to have both a stationary HD and an in motion installed on the coach? I know it has the traveller but I'm not sure about the inmotion.

Yes, you can have both. I have seen quite a few coaches with a dome in front ( standard) and a Trav'ler mid-ship. The Trav-ler is the superior antenna in my experience for eveything except for watching as you travel.

Another Directv feature is the AM21. With that box, one may watch local channels from the OTA antenna through the sat receiver. That gives you network, record/pause/FF, and local news and weather if you want.

Dish receivers either have built-in OTA tuners or USB OTA tuners for the Hopper and a couple of VIP211 models. If the receiver is a DVR, the OTA signal can be recorded like satellite signals.

I would only have a DVR. This would be the VIP622/722 with dual tuners. The VIP211 can be made into a DVR with a plug in USB disk drive but you only have one tuner.
We use a Hopper, the whole-home recorder with three tuners with Joey clients for bedroom TV.

The Dish DVR's are Huge! I could not get my 622 to fit in the cabinet and the 211 just fits. Advantage of the 211k is you can connect the TV antenna like Stew explained with Direct as the 211k has a coax connection.
A 211 and a mini HD for the DVR will fit nicely.

I bought a Dish 211K on eBay for about $100 and then added a USB harddrive to make it a DVR. There is some kind of fee they dish to add the DVR. I think I paid like $140 for lifetime DVR access. My 211K is very small. If you currently subscribe to Dish, I'd for sure go Hopper and Joey. I don't know how to subscribe to a Hopper on a mobile RV....maybe others do. I know I own my own 211K and turn on/off the service as needed.

I agree 100%, except we don't use pay-as-you-go. We have Dish in our S&B, and the rv counts as another room for $7 a month. Cheap enough to let it go when we are home. Also have the In-Motion dish; never had a problem viewing what we want. Very easy to change the service address via phone or online chat.

Stew
I am interested in the AM-21 box you describe. If you do that, how does the Direct receiver deal with the local channels in the satellite-based Guide? Are the locals somehow included in the Guides channel list, or do you have to activate them somehow?? Please tell me more
