Drivers Side roof awnings Anthem 2017

I am considering adding roof mounted awnings on the driver side like we have on the passenger side. I am thinking of the full size ones (like on the passenger side) versus the shorter ones that you can get (I think they extend about 4 feet out). I have been told that you can do it. Does anyone have any experience with this?
thanks

The price will be mind boggling. If the cost of the awnings doesn't scare you away, have a competent dealer do the install. The awning motors are 110 volt, so just doing the wiring part is a challenge. Good luck.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a "competent dealer (for Girard awning installations) in Florida? Preferably in the Tampa St. Pete area?

Must be nice to live in a windless environment..sigh. It is downright cruel out here in west TX.

I talked to Ted at the Tampa show and he says you can install awnings on the drivers side, the installer just needs to make sure to anchor them in the main roof trusses.
Now I need to figure out who will be really good at this job.

Girard, located along the central California coast could be an option for installation.

Van, when I Eternabond taped my roof, the faux awning mounts on the drivers side were the same mounts as on the patio side. They looked to be already attached to the trusses and the same mounts as the real awning. Can't they be use to attach a real awning to? If so, that should be an easy installation. I have seen mobile awning guys here in Ft Myers, there should be some in Tampa. Check with Girard and see if they have an approved mobile guy in your area.

Just a suggestion but you might want to call Chris Throgmorton at Stone Vos in Brooksville, FL. While Chris does not install awnings, he may very well have a recommendation for a good installer in the area.

Has anyone gotten a price for this installation? I'm also interested in doing this.

As worthless as these awnings seem to be, it seems a waste to add them to the other side of the coach also. More to worry about. It would be different if they would stand up to a wind gusts or shed rain water but they don't. For shading windows, you are better off with the pullouts over the windows, much stronger. However I would have to say that with lights in them on a calm night having them out on both sides would be impressive.

Yep, I have already had to have my rear awning completely rebuilt and it has only been out once and it wasn't even windy. If they didn't look so nice closed, I would change to usable awnings in a heartbeat.
