Dropping Off RV For PDI

Looking to find out how many out there have dropped off their rig for the two year PDI and comeback for it? Being that I live in California and still have that work thing in the way, I don't know if I'm going to be able to stay with my rig the entire time. Would like to hear the good and bad, so I can make a decision?

Entegra does a Post Delivery Inspection at the end of the two year warranty where they repair any items on your warranty list, vendor recalls and Entegra updates they may have had for that model. There are 20 paved parking spots with 50 amp and the PDI's are by appointment only. Very professional and high quality.

While I was having my PDI done there were four coaches that were dropped off for PDI's or repairs, it is not uncommon. When returning I would allow a couple of days just to make sure everything was covered.

We dropped ours off with our issues list. One of the items was the PDI. of course the appointment was scheduled. Picked up the coach about a month later and all things were completed along with the PDI. Just tell them you are going to leave it and they are fine with that. This time of year the coach will need to be winterized, if you can't do it, they can, but there is a cost of having them do it.

We are from the west coast... we went in August.. took 3 days getting there ... (being mellow and not rushing )
Stay in there parking lot Sunday night, check your coach in Monday morning .. you have the choice of staying in it every night,
They pull all the coaches out at 3.30. Back in next morning.. or get a local hotel. We stayed in a brand new hotel right up the street.. then they do a owners only tour like on Tuesday and then the awesome pj class. ( highly recommended)
Friday they usually are completed with the list if it's not huge.. pre give them the list so they can have the parts there..
We cruised around the area.. Newmar factory tour.. Thor factory tour.. all within 30 minutes.. went to Chicago for a night
( sketchy imo) back on the road Friday night to the west... cool experience... have fun with it..

Our opinion it's better to be there then be away from coach. Spoke with a few owners that left coach there and returned to find work not yet finished. We were extended a week and if we weren't there to point out repairs that weren't made it would have never been finished in that time frame.

I would drop it off and leave only if that is the only way I could work it out. Let me ategin with "I am completely satisfied with the work they do in Middlebury". However, I had a number of repairs that were really not repaired, or were not repaired to my satisfaction. For example, my coach had very little caulk on many of the seams, and although they tried to do it several times, it took their paint guy to mark the places they felt needed caulked again.

Their process if for your service manager to visit you again every afternoon when the coach comes back out and discuss what was done every day, and if you would like, show you what was done and talk about the resolution. It is a very nice process and I just would be reluctant to bypass all of that check and recheck to leave and let it all happen out of my vision, observation, and awareness. JMHO

Thank you all so much for the great advise! I want all the items taken care of in a timely matter. It sounds like it's best to be there and make sure things are moving along in the right direction.
Those who have gone. How long did the post PDI take to complete?

I did this about a year ago. I knew the coach had some things that would take a while (paint), we agreed on thirty days, we didn't want to hang around that long. Entegra arranged a ride for us to South Bend, and we flew home to California and left the coach there, winterized (they did it, $200), and left the toad parked in a dirt lot next to the repair building.

Went home, had contact with our service writer once a week as requested for updates, and a couple of times when they had questions.

We returned via train, an awesome trip...beautiful scenery and really fun. Entegra again arranged a ride for us from South Bend to Middlebury. The coach was ready and we stayed for a couple of days in Middlebury, found a couple of things wrong, which they fixed in short order, went on the tour, and were on our way. All in all, a very satisfactory experience.

The only negative note, which was clearly not Entegra's fault...the great rodent invasion. Not in the coach, but in the toad. Apparently leaving a warm car in a dirt lot next to a grassy field in the Midwest for a month in Winter is not a great idea. Mice everywhere! Dozens! Synopsis: they smelled bad, they pooed and peed everywhere, it was nasty. It cost $4K in insurance claims to get them out (carpets, heater ducts, foam pieces, etc.). If you leave a toad, I would garage it in town, would have been much cheaper in the long run.

Mine took 3 weeks after having to return for items that had problems, mostly Spartan.
