That's what makes sense to me. Each of the four ride height sensors, to my understanding, meters air to its associated air bag to maintain the house frame at a set distance above the chassis rail, regardless of the tag dump status.
But, I'm still learning.
Take care,
Stu

Does the height of the house above the chassis frame (ride height) decrease when the tag is dumped?
Or, does the effective rear overhang change due to the change of the pivot point moving from the tag axle to the drive axle?
I can understand that with the tag axle dumped, during a transition from level pavement to an incline (like from a street to a driveway) the clearance angle from the drive axle pivot point to the rear overhang would be less, even though the ride height has not changed.
So, my question is: Does dumping the tag axle actually decrease ride height?
Thanks for enlightening me.
Take care,
Stu

I think Stu has a good point. It seems to me that moving the pivot point forward by dumping the tag air would change the rear end clearance on a slope, without changing overall ride height.

The issue I had was entering and exiting my driveway. My garage sits higher than the street and with the tag dumped, when the drive wheels are at the lowest point, (in the gutter) the long rear overhang hits and drags up the driveway until the drive wheels climb out of the gutter. My measurement of 4 " drop is the difference between the point where drag occurs with tag dumped and where clearance is obtained while backing. Adding the tag defeat switch gives extra support to the rear suspension which gives me a 1" clearance at the former drag point.
Curb ramps in the gutter were not an option as my HOA wouldn't allow them.
I believe Entegra added this function in 2016 in the Anthem and Cornerstone...

When I dump or put tranny in reverse, the rear of the coach will drop. I can sense it. However, I think what is happening is with the tag bags dumped, it’s putting that more weight on the drives. I don’t think anything mechanical is going on other than gravity. You are adding about 10k worth of weight more onto the drives. JMO.

Consider a thickness or two of 2 x 8 or 1 x 12" planks under your tires set in the gutter leading up to your driveway incline. That might be enough additional clearance to keep the hitch and rear rail of the coach from dragging. If one section followed by two sections for each tire is not enough, you can add another section to each side.
It would be pain to add or remove them each time you need to move your coach, but if you are like me, that is only a few times each year.

Ha!
Been there done that!
I've splintered many 2 by and 4 bys in this driveway....
Due to HOA restrictions I cannot park on the street for anything other then loading and unloading.
When constructing my RV garage I had to move into and out of my driveway daily for months, laying out and retrieving lumber daily and that experience easily convinced me to have a permanent solution!
So far, it works for us!

Here is one of the post covering the tag axle air dump mod. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/dis...mp-293454.html

Many thoughts and ideas, thank you.To the best of my knowledge my air suspension works as designed. It’s only happened twice when I wish I had fully aired up tags going in and out of a dip. It’s a pivot point issue. Not a ride height issue, were good there.I will take a look at this modification and do it. Thanks to all.
