Hi Roger, Being slow on the uptake I am about two steps behind you in doing this mod. I have not looked at the EC30 module yet. Do I need to get some special pins or connectors to connect to pins 13 and 14? If so would you mind sharing a source or info on obtaining them.

I'm not sure when they made the change, but the newer coaches do not need the pins as the wires are already in the connector. My coach was built in the winter of 2013 and does not need the pins.

My 2007 came with the pigtail complete with short wire leads coming out so that you only had to splice the wire connections. No repinning required.

no

Pins missing in mine. And the wire from pin 1 was barely in the pin and pulled out when I disconnected the Molex so have to replace that pin too

I may have been mistaken. It may be the 2013 and older coaches that have the wires attached, and the newer ones that need the pins installed.

My 2015 Anthem 44B coach was built in late 2014 and delivered 3 months ago in January. Is it our understanding that coaches built after a specific date have the circuit wired so that when the park power is returned, the generator will shut down? Or is that still not a standard part of the set up. I have been told (but may not be true) that my coach was essentially built incorporating all the 2016 model changes. Lastly, if we are not sure here on iRV2, will a call to Entegra confirm clearly one way or the other?

You can easily test it yourself. While connected to shore power, activate auto gen start, then turn on your A/C and set the thermostat to call for cooling. If you need the mod, your generator will start. If the generator does not start, the wiring is already in place and you are all set.

The starting is not the problem I was worrying about..... it is the stopping when the shore power returns....

I guess that I can simulate that also, just kill my 50A mains and then turn it back on and see what happens....

In that case leave your shore power disconnected and activate AGS. Then turn on the A/C which will cause the generator to start. Then turn off the A/C. If the batteries are topped off and there is no call for A/C, the generator should turn off after its minimum run time, whatever that is.

OK I finished the mod and tested the EC30 by flipping the breaker off to simulate loss of shore power while the EC30 was on AUTO ON and the gen started because the ac was on. I let it run for 15 minutes and then flipped the breaker back on to simulate shore power back on and the gen turned off and the EC30 remained in AUTO ON. So now what other tests should I run?

I just realized flipping the breaker off prevents the EC30 from sensing gen power at the panel...oops! I think I need to leave breaker on and actually sut off power at the pedestal. I'll try that next.

OK everything works as advertised by Ted Cook. The only downside is that the gen will not shut down when shore power is restored but will shut down when ac and charging are no longer needed. If shore power has come back it will remain off until shore power fails again. I can live with that.

Problems! Having completed this mod I found that after starting on AGS the generator would shut down after running for 10-12 minutes, then restart itself within 30 seconds, and repeat the same sequence again and again. When I turned off the new circuit breaker, the generator would run continuously without these frequent stop/start events.

After reflecting on this behavior for a while, it all made sense to me. When the AGS starts the generator, it imediately senses power on pins 13 and 14. That tells it "okay, shore power has returned, so the generator can shut down". But it is programmed for a minimum run time, so it does not shut down right away but waits for 10-12 minutes to satisfy the minimum run time. Then it shuts down the generator. As soon as the generator shuts down, pins 13 and 14 no longer see the presence of shore power, so it starts right back up to satisfy the need for battery charging or A/C.

The wiring into the circuit breaker panel is incorrect, as Cruzer stated here earlier. The sense wire must be routed to shore power input at the transfer switch in order for this feature to work as intended. Otherwise you will get the above described start/stop problem.

Cruzer, you were right!
