End of TSD discounts at TA/Petro

My son is a OTR trucker and he said talk on the road is that since BP purchased TA/Petro, they are going to stop servicing trucks and are going to remove the truck fuel pumps within the next year. So far just a rumor but it seems to be gaining traction. I contacted the TSD and she said she's waiting to hear back from their business manager on the matter.

I wonder if they'll have a closeout sale on diesel
That might explain the lack of discount that once was

Why would ANY company buy a truck servicing and fuel company and turn them into just a car fuel location when electric would appear to be the future of automobiles??? Does that make any sense to anyone?

I anticipate simply waiting and see what happens.

285 location's would be a lot to shut down and deal with the expense of tearing everything out to make the property sellable.......big underground tank's!
Don't believe this is going to happen....... to much revenue being made vs the expense of shutting down....... Just another buy out.........

Agree closing truck fuel pumps would be counter intuitive business sense for an oil company. The truck oriented associated services - showers, aftermarket parts, tire and lube services, big food services and junk food offerings would dry up. The largest expense would be the environmental remediation after they close.
There are only two types of underground storage tanks — those that leak and those that are going to leak!

After a few months of layoff, we're traveling again the last couple of weeks. The TA/Petro discounts have almost gone away while the Love's is back to 50-60 cents. This is traveling from the Alabama coast up to Charlotte, MI.

Exactly, Race Track entered the program just last year. When I went up to Entegra last Aug they were very competitive along that route.

We are brand agnostic. We look for easy access on our route that is in the general area of when we need fuel. And I especially like to fill up before a long trip to save time when it is needed.

We just got a great discount at a TA north of Knoxville about 10 days ago. I think it was 80 or 90 cents a gallon off.

We have hit several racetracks this year. Some are easier access than others. I use the google earth view in google maps to check the station before we visit.

This is a copy and paste from "FreightWaves" a trucking publication. It looks like the BP purchase is based on the future fuels for the trucking industry.
Having TA in the BP fold will “provide options to expand and develop new mobility offers including electric vehicle charging, biofuels, renewable natural gas (RNG) and later hydrogen, both for passenger vehicles and fleets.”

I agree, BP, along with other national/regional chains are expanding their energy offering/mix for the future.

Large retailers see opportunity by offering mixed fuel sources, so the pressure is on to expand.

Having a fuel rewards program is a double edged sword for retailers. Pennies at the pump vs. dollars in the door is where they make their profits.
