This morning I got another reminder of why NIRVC is such a great RV center do deal with.
When we were on our way to FTW Eddie Braley, NIRVC
Dallas GM, called me. He read this thread and wanted to discuss the exhaust tip issue and make sure I was all right. We discussed how Entegra sourcing their own exhaust tips for the X-15 engines came about, remember tips falling off early 605hp engines? We also talked about pricing, sounds like Entegra is trying to get an ROI for their RD to develop this tip. He offered suggestions of ways forward on my tip to include warnings and examples of after market tips. He gave me some advice on how to repair my tip to include how to make it look good after I beat it into submission.
He’s an extremely busy man, especially on the last day of the month, but he didn’t rush the discussion and truly made me feel like I was his most important customer.

This is as good as it’s gonna get. Every time I try to make it a little better it gets a little worse. I took the manufacturer’s finish off so it’s just brushed stainless above the mounting area now. I used some household stainless polish on it which didn’t work well so I will apply automotive stainless polish after I reinstall it.
The dent on the top left of the third pic doesn’t stand out as much as it did with the flash.

I would say that’s a pretty satisfactory job. I ever need any body work done I’ll be sure togive you a call.

If you want to stop the discoloration, take your 4" grinder, and cut a 4" wide x 6" long "truncated triangle" on the inside of the bend (bottom). I did it to mine and she stays shiny.
All that hot gas blowing on a curve will discolor the best of chrome jobs.

I’ve got an almost new bronze that I’d trade for chrome or stainless.

Mike,
This isn’t chrome, it’s stainless steel.

This is an odd tip. Part of 2016 through at most of 2018 Entegra provided their own Cornerstone exhaust tips then went back to Spartan as a source.
