Engine Hatch - 2012 Aspire

2012 Aspire DEQ - Engine hatch???

Ok I know it’s there but I cannot find my engine hatch inside the bedroom. Entegra CS informed me they did not install handles for this year coach, but screwed down the hatch with screws embedded in the carpet. Now I have found two approx 5” screws but still cannot raise the hatch and e run if I could the carpeting will have to come up!

Has anyone figured this out or am I the only one with this type hatch?

Thanks for all the assistance!

A really weak metal detector like this one will find the screw when you touch them, but it is not powerful enough to pickup other metal. It is called a pin-pointer and only sounds on what it touches.

The first time I pulled my floor access (have tiles and handles), it was very difficult to break the seal (and heavy).

Jeff, what Mark said is an understatement on lifting the cover out even with handles.
Might want to have a sheet of thick cardboard or some plywood to slide or set the cover on when you get the screws out. A pry bar too.

Well I finally got back out to the coach (storage) and was able to remove three 5” screws, raise the carpet, and found the engine hatch. A little bit to lift but not too bad. Now it’s time to change the breather and get ready for our three week trip to Ft Wilderness (Jan 2 - 21) and grand kiddos week of 17-21.

I’ll post some pictures for those that have the “classic” Aspires and do. Not have the hatch with lifts appearing.
