Entegra 45 foot Recommended cruising speed? Speed limit too fast?

Has anyone ever heard of or read of a maximum speed with larger motorhomes like the Cornerstones or similar K3 chassis RVs? I personally like to ride in the middle lane when possible to minimize having to move over frequently when people are entering the highway. For that reason, and it seems like a comfortable speed, I usually run at 70-72 when the speed limit is 70 so that it does not block the middle lane too much and below the tire speed ratings. Although, still get a lot of people zooming by, it does not bother me since at least doing the speed limit or a little over. The coach seems very stable and normally can not even feel if I am passing a semi or one is passing me.

What speed do you travel with a larger tag axle coach flat towing a Jeep or similar?

Your CS is heavier and with 600hp, you can run whatever speed you feel comfortable with. Excludes tire limitations, speed limit, and your driving skills.

We run at 63mph.
1) not in a hurry, don’t follow trucks, contractors or trailers.
2) even with Retrobands, I feel at 63mph I have better odds on a front blowout.
3) even with my lowly 405hp, I can pass most trucks going up hill.
4) your point about avoiding egress/ingress lanes are valid and I will usually ride in the second to right lane whenever possible. So do most of the thru trucks when traveling in urban areas. My co-pilot monitors ramps and vehicles that like to travel in blind spots.
Like most older drivers, I’m a better, smarter driver than when I was young but I also know my reaction time is less too.
Safe Travels.

I run the speed of what the truck traffic is doing in the right lane, usually 72 MPH. If NOT in a congested area I stay in the right lane and move over for on coming traffic. If going through a congested area, then it's the second lane.

Kind of what I do. I know I read about people who only drive 60-65 max but then my thinking is that these things have to pass NHTSA regulations.

I do the same, except that I limit my speed to 65 due to speed restriction on my Lincoln tow car. If not towing I would be happy with 70 mph, but 65 is fast enough for me, as after all, I have all day to get there. If traffic is faster than me, I keep to the right as much as feasible and just let them pass me on my left. I find that a very relaxing way to drive. Because I am holding a steady speed and letting them pass me, there is little in the way of adjustment that I need to do about traffic. Most speed adjustments or lane changes are done by the other traffic, not by me. I just stay in my lane and hold a steady speed. Easy and relaxing.

I still feel if people do not want to drive Interstate speed, maybe the scenic highways would be more to their liking. I have seen trucks having to slam on the brakes because it was not safe to go around someone driving 60-65. I cringe every time I see that happening.

I don’t think Class A Motorhomes are subject to the kind of crash-testing that cars are. The safety agencies may regulate some things like seatbelt requirements and the chassis may have some crashworthiness requirements, the finished coach has no such testing or requirements.
I usually set the cruise control at 63mph or less. I just assume I’m about as protected in the event of a crash as if I were on a motorcycle at the same speed-maybe less because on the motorcycle I’d at least have a helmet, gloves and an armored jacket.

I agree with above. In my 22 Anthem we put a lot of hwy miles and I drove too fast 75plus for the first several months then after realizing that’s too fast I now run the speed limit or 5 over.

Around 72 is very comfortable for me. More relaxed now that we have the retrobands than in the previous 15 years without. The coach will get going faster than you realize but my bride always sounds the warning bell. I appreciate it!

The best speed to drive is the speed you feel comfortable driving at...no matter if your in a RV or a VW Bug.

Always 75 it traffic permits, never a issue in 70,000 miles.

“…I now run the speed limit or 5 over.”
Personally I don’t understand why the speed limit would be factored in to determine my comfortable speed (except as being the absolute maximum). I’m currently driving I-20 around San Antonio Eastbound. The posted speed limit is 80mph so using your method you’d be doing 85, maybe even getting up to 90+ on some of the 7% downhills, Yikes!

I drive at the speed limit up to 70mph. The limiting factor for me is the tire speed rating, 75mph. Driving 70 gives me some cushion, so I do not need to worry about going faster than 75.

My statement was for 99% of the interstate hwys. I drive out west also and live in texas so i am familiar with 80 plus mph speed limits but i don’t think its too safe to go over 75, i don’t care what production box you are in. None were built for over 75 in mind..
