Entegra Aspire water pump/system issue

Hello. Just bought my 2015 Aspire 44B about a month ago. Still learning how things work. I'm having an issue with the water pump running but not getting any water at the faucets or toilet. The tank has never been below 50% since I bought it. It is currently at 79%. The pump is a self priming (positive displacement) pump. So it is pulling air from somewhere. There are three low point drains in the wet bay. The shutoff valves on the two for the hot & cold piping are closed. Nothing draining out. The third valve has a second valve just above it that appears to be the antifreeze suction hose shutoff valve. I can't tell what direction is open or closed. Hopefully someone can help me out. Also does the Aqua Hot system have its own water tank suction or does it depend on the regular water pump to get water when I'm not connected to city water?

Welcome to the forum.
Make sure the tank fill valve is turned back to city water. A common mistake that I am still guilty of after filling the tank.
For the anti freeze valve, put the clear hose in a container for clean water. Se which direction the valve is for suction.
The aqua hot is a flow through system. it will work with either water type connection. The AH has a small tank with heating coils in the center of it that heat the water as it passes over the coils.

What would happen if the city water is not connected and the fresh water pump does not work. Will the AH still get the water it needs?

The AH only needs water for consumption, showers, etc. It is the boiler fluid the produces the heat as well as heating any water that may be used for consumption.

From your picture it looks like valves are not turned correctly. Typically, when the pointed handle is parallel to the pipe it is connected too, it is open and closed when it it is at 90 degree to the pipe. From the picture it looks like they are partially open/closed. You could also have a bad valve. Pumping air and water would suggest the winterizing valve is partially open or defective.

It is possible the pump is bad especially if it is the original pump from Entegra.

Valve on the right needs to be straight up - probably sucking air. The other 2 need to be all the way down, and look like they are. Also make sure the outdoor faucet handles are in the off position. Like Chuck said, Make sure the fill valve is vertical.

A bad air-pocket can take some time to get the pump to prime. I can usually get mine primed from the half bath toilet (if you have a half bath), or the outdoor faucet. I have even blown air into the clear hose for winterizing to push the air pocket through.

The valve on the clear winterizing tube needs to be closed too.

Agree about that one valve needing to be vertical.
Another way to burp some air: with the pump on, you can unscrew the clear bulb on the pump a bit and let some air out. Just need a towel handy.

Thanks all. So the top valve appears to be a 3 way valve. It has a top, mid, and bottom position that causes different things. I've removed the strainer cover and I don't even get any air coming out. Tank is 100% full. Next thing I plan to do is disassemble the pump to see if there are any obstructions. When I check suction on the antifreeze suction hose there is no suction.

You can also try turning on the hot water side of your outdoor shower. If my fresh water tank is near 50%, I can prime it that way.
Keep us posted.

I had the same problem and found the check valve inside the pump stuck closed (remove the top four screws) and you can test with a 12v battery (I used my battery for my drill). The check valve was stuck and I just used some slight pressure with a small screwdriver.

Hope that helps!

Disassembled the pump an hour ago. There was a small poppet valve that was stuck. I freed it up, reassembled, and tested it. It pumped water in about 30 seconds. Thanks for the info. I do plan to buy a new one. If that valve keeps sticking I'll just swap it out.

If your 15 still has the 4008 and is starting to have problems, might want to consider an upgrade to the 4048 and keeping the 4008 as a spare. I changed the pump on my 14 just for constant pressure and noise. It was a nice improvement and worth the money. The 4008 pump was marginal when new and no longer used by Entegra

Completely agree!! I purchased the 4048 and now use my 4008 as a backup.
