Entegra Esteem: How is it built?
I’ve read that the Entegra Esteem is built with “Tuff Shell vacuum bonded floor and sidewalls”. What exactly does that mean? Is it as good as Azdel on the Coachmen brand?
Coachmen makes a big deal with videos on Azdel. I can’t find anything on the Entegra Esteem website about sidewall construction? Are they as good as Azdel vacuum bonded?

Hi Gary, Are you looking for a new Esteem as I am? I like everything I see, would just like to know more about the side construction etc?

Yes, WyoFree. I am looking to buy my first RV, maybe Entegra Odyssey. Entegra Class C models were built in the same plants as their Jayco counterparts. So Jayco has some info on TuffShell™ vacuum-bonded lamination. It is essentially a lamination process to make a strong wall with an aluminum frame. I find this in Jayco website.
https://www.jayco.com/blog/jayco-dif...nd-lamination/
I wish Entegra would switch to Azdel.

Not on topic but I have a 2019 Esteem 29V for the last year +. I like it a lot. I especially like the full body paint with actual paint on the markings rather than decals. I saw online though that you can now buy an Esteem in 2021 without full body paint. Can’t answer about the sidewalls but it is well made as an Entegra should be. Be happy to answer any questions I can, PM me if you want.

Heck If I know
Obviously every manufacturer says their way is best because of X, Y, and Z.
I would think Entegra and others would want us to know all about why their construction process is best, but danged if I could find any detail. I find this a critical failure of their marketing department. After all, water intrusion IS an RV's WORST enemy, and if "Tuffshell" (they even trademarked the name for cryin' out loud) is something worth bragging about (like Azdel, for example),then give us pictures, exploded diagrams, and video of the process, the whole thing.

Has anyone toured the factory to see the construction first hand? When we purchased our Entegra we toured the factory twice to see the construction before writing the check.

Hey brobox, Then you know first hand. What did you think of the plant tour and more importantly. Are you happy with the build of your Entegra and what model did you buy?

Even within a manufacturer there are different build processes. For example, the Entegra high end diesel pushers don’t use vacuum bonded, they use a much better sidewall construction. You might find more information about their vacuum bonded process by looking at the Jayco website.

Entegra Esteem: How is it built?
I’m following as we are thinking of moving from a TT to a quality class-c. Great information being shared. [emoji106]
Wyofree
So are both the Greyhawk and Entegra built by Jayco much like Rockwood and Flagstaff are built by Forest River?

That’s a great idea Butte64, I noticed the other day on the Entegra Esteem site, they don’t offer the 3D 360 degree view. But if you go to the Entegra GrayHawk Prestige site the 3D is available there.
Hi Funengineer, You posted as I was writing and I just wanted to mention your thoughts on a Class C is a good one. And Entrega is a good choice for sure!

THis Azdel conversation is interesting..the fact it is Coachmen's main selling point and now Nexus is using as well but they sell it as we use steel versus aluminum framing which is heavier but quieter and more durable and we make up the weight in using this Azdel wall is a compelling argument. Now factor in I see Coachmen using Azdel as far back as 2011 maybe even farther..so if its so superior, why hasn't every mfr shifted to it? It is not patented to Coachmen specific....

That’s interesting. I actually spoke to Entegra about their sidewalls and the guy explained how there’s are made. I mentioned the Azdel used by coachmen and he said “Yes that’s an excellent product”.
I understand it adds about 7% to the price of the Coach. And the machine to mold and compress the panels etc is expensive as well.
I’ve never heard anyone ever say anything negative about Azdel.
