Tend to agree with the self insure approach.
OTOH, a 7 year policy cost for my coach after 2 year warranty is over comes to about $1350/yr and is transferable and pro rata refundable. Doesn't seem that bad when viewed as an annual cost. Also a nice incentive to potential buyers if I sell our rig privately again or consign it during the policy period.
All the degradation in supplier component quality/longevity these days puts me on the fence with this decision. Even though I can do many of my own repairs, there are some really expensive things that can go wrong.
I compared NIRVC to Wholesale Warranties, both were around the same cost. My coach is 2 years old with just under 20K miles.
Wholesale: $8200, 6 years starting at policy purchase date. Exclusionary with consequential damages coverage. $200 deductible. NO MILEAGE LIMIT.
NIRVC: $8300, 6 years. Exclusionary, no consequential damages coverage. Zero deductible at NIRVC location, $100 elsewhere. 75000 mileage limit INCLUDING current mileage - that leaves just 55000 miles on a six year policy. We will do average 12K miles per year so effective coverage ends in the fifth policy year.
In my case Wholesale was a much better policy especially with no mileage limit. However, if you buy an extended policy when the coach is new, pricing and terms may be different.
I believe any extended warranty starts on the purchase date, not the end of the manufacturers warranty, so if you buy one at coach purchase time you need to factor in the fact that 2 years of coverage is nullified.
Advice: if you wait until Entegra warranty is up to get extended policy, buy it just before your factory warranty expires to save the inspection fee usually required for out of warranty coaches.

My choice has always been NIRVC because you have someone (NIRVC) to help with your claim... Warrantys are just like dealers some are a lot better than others. Good luck with your choice.

The only extended warranty I had on my coach was a high deductible “catastrophic” warranty. Worked fine for years until I bought my used Entegra. It had so many problems, and such expensive ones, that I bought the NIRVC Campers Edge. So far that has saved me about $3,000 and I still have almost 3 years on my $8,000 policy.
Although I am an NIRVC fan there are issues that bother me. Many repairs need to be redone once or twice, requiring repeat visits to NIRVC. For example, my dash air repair cost $1,700, this was before the NIRVC warranty. It lasted one day, but I was on the road and it took me 2 months to get it in. The second repair was listed as a failure different than the first, and my warranty was charged $1,100. That lasted one month. Back in the shop, it was determined this was a third repair unrelated to the prior two, and my warranty was charged $800. My Maxxair fan has been fixed twice and now waiting to get back in to try to fix it again. And so on.
I sure like the attitude I get at NIRVC but not sure that their service matches their reputation.
