Filter Supply Chain Issues

I am having a heck of a time sourcing air filters for the engine (450hp) and fuel filters for the generator (Onan 10k).

I prefer the air filter to be one with the metal cage around the filter element, however, the only one that is readily available is the Wix with the internal plastic cage. I believe that's what I have now. I might be forced back to this one.

I sourced two Donaldson fuel filters for the generator and they both came in a Donaldson box that said 'made in China' on it. The metal filter housing had no stamping on it like Donaldson shows in their drawings. Guessing it's a copy. I may call Donaldson and ask. Otherwise I may be forced to a Chinese filter.

I called several online stores looking for these filters and every single one said good luck. The one guy said their wholesale pricing went up by 4x. They used to source one storage container of filters for 100k. It's now 400k for the same filters. The issue is apparently the filter media.

What is everyone else doing? Running Chinese filters? Leaving the old filters on for another season? I don't know what's worse!

The fuel filter for the generator a Kabota tractor filters, nothing special. I have had good luck finding them at NAPA which are WIX filters. FUEL FILTER Onan 149-2513 or equiv WIX33063. Also purchased a Kabota at Auto Zone years ago.

Filters

I purchase my filters from a NAPA Truckwise parts store, not the regular NAPA stores. They should be able to get what you need. You can get a good discount if you request the purchase is made thru NAPA National Account and just pay for the parts.

Out of stock everywhere. I already tried all those filter numbers. Even visited the store in person.

I actually ordered two Donaldson fuel filters off amazon for the generator.

The box says Donaldson (although it does say made in China), however, the filter does not have the correct stamping on it. I called Donaldson and it appears to be a bunk copy. They do not have any of the filters in stock either.

Hi - Just bought the Kobota filter that goes on the Kobota engine in the 10K and 12.5 K generator. Just short of $12 and they have loads of them. Filter is HH164-32430.

Hi - Sorry for the misread on my part. This is a stanadyne filter that says made in USA.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDHRHXLJ...osi&th=1&psc=1 $24.90
That's the same filter that I've used for several gensets. They did however use to be $9 but so were a lot of other things. Hope this is a help. They were used on GMC trucks, among others, back then.

Thanks. That was similar to ad I purchased from.

Here's the filter they sent me.

It was a fake unfortunately.

Watch The Micron Rating

FYI - from what I've found the FF236 or Cummings 1492513 has a 5 micron rating. Some of the cross referenced ones are up to 40 micron so be aware. Genuine FF236 filters have been an issue for some time. I purchased one from NAPA in March and they had to ship it. Newmar has them in stock but pricey, $66 includes shipping.
