Finally Got to Use It

So this past weekend we finally got to use our Aspire. We first got the rig on April 11 and were supposed to be camping for the first time on April 20, but the weather would not cooperate here in Western NY. Snow in mid-April does not bring smiles to our faces, particularly after a long tax season.

So for our first trip we just headed 100 miles down to Erie, PA. We were camping with friends and our daughter had some functions at her school 60 miles away in Grove City, so it seemed like the perfect time. The drive down was probably about the worst I have ever experienced in an RV. High winds, heavy rain, and occasional hail. In spite of all that the coach handled beautifully.

Okay, so what's our list of issues that should have been caught at the PDI? We have a short that makes the dinette lights work and then not work. I know they worked when we picked up the coach and worked off and on during the weekend so there's a gremlin living in there somewhere. Not really anything I can blame on the dealer. Second issue is that the bedroom door doesn't close fully. I'll look at it tonight and see if I can fix it myself. That's it. Nothing else that I noticed or that my wife noticed.

I have to compliment Kyle and the folks at Buffalo RV because they really did go through the coach pretty darn thoroughly before we picked it up. So far so good. I'll let you know if anything else crops up.

Sounds good Dave. I'll be at the EC Homecoming also. My wife can't make it, but I'll be there learning about all I can find out about my beast. Look for the Victory Red Aspire with NY Plates.

Ed

Glad you got the coach out Ed. I also had an on again, off again light. Pulled the light down, recrimpted the connection fixed the problem.

Chuck, it's actually several lights over the dinette. They all go out together and then go on together. The funny part about it is that they don't flicker at all like I would expect a short to be. They are either all on or all off.

I think that is the new feature EC calls "the Dieter". It tells you when to eat and when to stop.
Congrats on a great coach

Ed, it must have stayed on too long because I put a couple of pounds on this weekend.

Great response!

Glad you had so few troubles on the first outing!
For the lights, I would remove the switch and check for any loose wires there. I realize it's new and under warranty, but that seems much easier than taking it back to the dealer.

Thanks Larry. It sure is a big step up from my Berkshire which actually was a pretty good coach but the Aspire is in another league altogether. I'm still learning that the extra five feet in length is something that requires a bit more thought going into turns but so far no issues.

I'm pleased with our decisions on the coach. So far so good!

Don't worry Ed - after you run over a few curbs and knock down a few stop signs, it'll become second nature...

Our 2019 44R bedroom does not close either. The door does not align with the area next to the bunk beds. It looks like a major fix to me.

Glad to see you are finally enjoying the new rig.

The light problem is probably a poor connection in the light string. With any luck it will fail open and then should be relatively easy to find. In the mean time if you can get to the wires to the lights give them a tug or shake. Often easier said than done.
