Fired Up - 2017 Anthem Ordered - Questions?
Thanks to the help we received from this forum we were able to make a decision on our first MH. We ordered a 2017 Anthem 44B, Rich Chocolate, Majestic, Natural Cherry with all the options. When we saw the majestic color on line we didn't like it at all but in person with the other interior colors it looked really nice.
Thanks to this forum we were led to NIRVC, Angie and Brett whom we really like dealing with. We got what we feel was a great price and we are very confident their service after the sale will be equally good!
We were fortunate to get the last spot in July's Spartan Academy, really looking forward to that as we are MH newbies.
A few more questions please.
Those of you with a 44B, where do you place the ottoman when you travel?
Where do your dogs lay while traveling? We have two about 30 lbs each?
Ladies, where do you keep your broom?
Gentlemen, the solar option is $2800, which is a lot for two 100 watt panels. Does it really help charge 8 or in 2017 4 batteries. I'm confused on the purpose of this but nearly everyone orders it.
Can't wait until June!
Thanks All

Congratulations! We put the ottoman on the couch when we travel, but we have the smaller one and put the bottom of a Lazy Boy recliner by the fire place. Most people put the ottoman by the fireplace. Broom is in the closet in the back. I'm not sure what a 30 lb odds are .. so can't help you there. The bed is a good place to put lots of stuff that might roll around otherwise.
Glad you are going to the Spartan class ... really worth your while. Again, congrats!

We have a DEQ with 2 ottomans that ride on the bed. Broom travels in the bedroom closet. 2 90-pound dogs lay wherever they want to include between cockpit seats. Our youngest occasionally tries to ride on the couch though they aren't allowed on furniture.

I have the 200W solar option and I would not order it again. For the price you pay you could get 400W or more elsewhere.

What was it about the Anthem that made you decide that over the Aspire? I can't tell much difference between the two for 2017.

Congratulations!! We are right there with you - ordered our first ever MH from Angie. Our Anthem DEQ is due in June and we can't wait. What is the Spartan class you mentioned? We will be picking ours up in Atlanta and then driving it to California - kinda scary, but we are up for the challenge. Any pointers?

Ottoman on the floor in between the slides. It fits prefect and we just walk around it when we need to get to the back. I find it much more secure.
I have the solar and and don't notice much difference or help from it. I wouldn't have ordered it that way.
I usually put the broom in the storage bays.
Congrats!

We own a '15 44B. Ottomans go in front of the fireplace while we travel. That takes them away from the pathway down the center when you walk through the coach with all slides-in and keeps them out of the way. Also, it is only a couple of feet from where they are usually positioned..... right in front of the couch. I would never put them in the back bath for fear that in a hard stop or hard turn that they would crash into the glass shower, and it is a lot further to move them.... why bother? but YEMV
The ottomans have never moved from in front of the fireplace when traveling the road.
The broom goes on a "clothes" hook mounted in the half bath. We have two cats and a litter box and they are throwing cat litter all over the floor so we need to keep it handy. It gets laid down in the bath when we are moving.
The animals will find their own place and it is likely a different place each third time you start moving (at least for our cats). we see lots of little ones on the dash..... your 30 pounders are going to be likely on the floor or on the couch, I bet.
I have the 200 watts of solar. If you never dry camp and always either run the generator constantly or are hooked up to RV park 50A power, then you probably won't get much use out of them. However, if you do any dry camping or even Wal-Marting or boondocking while traveling, then these solar panels are putting roughly 15 amps into your batteries each hour all the time you have reasonable daylight. Now I don't dry camp for long periods very often but do walmart and other places while "making time" traveling, and I just finished 12 days dry camping at Quartzsite, and that 12 -15 amps per hour charge to the house battery bank doesn't hurt. It is NOT enough to avoid running the generator however or keeping your refer going.
I bought from MHS and their policy is to order "all American options" on all coaches they sell (strangely, that does not mean the Winegard Trav'ler antenna which in my opinion is one of the "few must have additions" (unless they have changed their policy)). I'm not sure the $2800, if that is the cost, is worth it for the panels, and the ~ $5,000 cost for the iPAD system to control everything is worth $5,000 either but now that I have both, they are sort of handy.

Ordered my 44B in Jan and due to be finished end of this month. Taking delivery from NIRVC outside of Texas. I put my down payment on it and forgot about it for 2 months. Now that race season is starting, I'm getting ansy to take delivery and start having some fun. Wife and the squid are planning trip to Disney in June, should be a blast.

Thanks everyone. We are super excited as you can imagine. I think we made a good choice.
Land Yachter, We read abou the class here. I don't know a lot about it so you would be best served to search Spartan Academy. From what I've read it is very good. It's a week for you and spouse at a cost of $1290 which includes camping and many meals plus the training materials. You can also have an in depth inspection of your coach with any necessary adjustments done for $125. Call Greg at Spartan bi think we may have gotten the last spot this year but someone may cancel.
WAscubaDude, you are right, with the 2017s the lines are much closer. We liked the interiors better, the larger fuel tank, extra inverter, more battery capacity as we dry camp often but no one feature made the difference. Basically since this was our first MH we wanted to try and get exactly what we wanted within our budget.
Happy Trails Everyone!
