Firefly update - not reading USB

I’m not sure how some of you do updates to your Vega system, but in our case it is necessary to download the files from Firefly to a USB and then insert that into the back of the panel and follow a sequence of steps.

I spent most of the day trying to accomplish this without any luck. It would seem to me that the panel is not reading the USB drive. I’ve tried three different drives and to the best of my technical knowledge i verified that the downloads do appear and they’re properly labeled.

I sent my contact Firefly or maybe I should say “caseworker” screenshots from my laptop verifying what’s on the USB drive is properly configured and labeled.

I’m doing the downloads to a MacBook Pro but the USB drive is formatted to a fat 32 and I don’t believe that is necessarily the issue. ???

I don’t know that anyone has any better advice before Firefly calls me back again tomorrow, but I thought I would at least reach out to those of you who have experienced frustrations with making updates work, in case I am missing some step. I have followed their instructions, watched the YouTube video and even did an alternate step that they suggested which was powering down the coach and everything right after inserting the drive rather than unplugging the panel and re-plugging it back in to get it to boot.

Any Firefly digital gurus out there with thoughts?

In advance thank you.

Don't know exact answer to your questions but here are a few that I have learned over the years when having a problem with different devices.

GB Size of USB stick. - I had a problem where I was using a large one I had and it would not work. Went and bought a smaller one and it worked.

Verify your file(s) in the correct directory.

File Format - device is wanting different then your stick.

Corrupt file - Try downloading again.

Hi WDW. I had to do an update from a USB as well earlier this year. Using the instructions Firefly had given it, the update would not execute. I seem to remember that the problem was that even though the instructions said that the update files should be copied to a USB drive in a directory that I was to create called “SpyderConf” and the instructions said that the directory name was NOT case-sensitive. If my memory serves me in fact it WAS case-sensitive and I had mistakenly named it “spyderconfig”.
I looked thru my email and unfortunately couldn’t find where I had told them that but make sure your directory is “SpyderConf” and give it a try.

Actually now that I think about it you should try naming the directory “SpyderConfig” and if that doesn’t work try “spyderconfig”. I don’t really recall which worked but one of them did.

Keith & everyone, appreciate the feedback. I tried the different labeling and talked with them and they said to just use spyder because spyderconfig Is 12 letters and you’re only allowed 11.

I have tried smaller drives, larger drives, old drives, new drives. I’m beginning to think that there’s an underlying Mack thing going on here that I’m just not seeing.

Their solution is to send me a USB drive and to try and load it that way. Now I’ll sit and wait…..

Kind of like waiting till the end of September for my Entegra appointment to figure out the rest of this problem with the slide mechanism on the bed and where the magnets are hiding.

Don
