For Classic Owners....Cummins ECM Updates
We stopped at Cummins Coach Care in Ocala FL to have our computers updated to hopefully eliminate all of the "fault codes" and poor fuel millage we have been having.
Come to find out there is a Campaign # 1737 issued by Cummins where our computer required 13 updates from the date it was put into service.
If you have not had your engine computers updated, now is time while it is still under warranty.

Not surprising, had three complete updates (flashes) of my ECM programming within the first 3 or 4 months after purchase when I had my radiator replaced and my series of SCR and DPF engine fault codes. I will see if they can be done at Middlebury this fall or will make a run to a CoachCare facility.
Are any of them the "you tried to start your Cummins too soon" false fault?

Last year Cummins rebuilt the engine and I see a notation on the bill about the ECM having been updated.

My coach is 2 months out of warranty. If there have been so many updates, why weren't they communicated?

Your Cummins has a 5 year warranty, but not sure if this covers ECM updates for 5 year.
Call a Cummins distributor with engine serial number.
Engine serial number is found on ID tag behind driver's seat down next to the floor.

Cummins I believe is 5 years, not the Entegra 2 years. It is up to Engine owners to check with Cummins, the do not send out notices. The "free" updates are part of any service preformed at Cummins, or like we did, made an appointment. No charge and a nice overnight RV parking.

I have had the 1081 code so many times just heading down the highway, I don't even pay attention to them anymore. Hope the updates eliminate that according to Spartan.

This topic surprises me, as I have never seen an error message or code of any sort from my engine. Now, I am wondering why?

Chuck, after reading your post about the Cummins updates I called Cummins and because my engine serial number was never registered to me I never got any notifications about updates. They said the dealer who sells you the coach should register the engine and transmission serial numbers to both Cummins and Allison, Spartan doesn't do it.
Now I found out that there was a Campaign C1737 put out by Cummins, a campaign is an update that Cummins deems important enough to notify everyone to have done ASAP. I also found out that there are a bunch more to do also. Glad you mentioned them. I'm calling them now!!

You got me curious so I checked my paperwork from my Entegra PDI back in April and it turns out Cummins came there and did campaign 1737 on my engine so I am up to date.

Chuck I appreciate you posting this information, we have our PDI starting July 18th and I just called our service rep to make sure they get these updates during our visit. I had asked for Cummins to do any updates but did not know about this prior to your post.

My engine serial number was also not registered with Cummins. Cummins did verify with the Spartan app the date my engine was put into service. I was never on Cummins notification list either.
An Update on the flash....before, I could not break 7 MPG, more like low 6's. Today I averaged 7.4 MPG from Ocala to Macon running 68 MPH. I am fine with that.
