Fresh Water Tank Drain

Has anyone ever had to change the 90 degree elbow on the drain of the fresh water tank. I can't tell if the elbow is cracked or leaking at the connection above it. Before I start ripping things apart, would like to know the type of connection, like a PEX compression or is it something else and did you have to remove the fresh water tank to fix it. Any help appreciated.

That is a barb style 90* fitting with compression rings. You will need the tool to replace the compression rings and along with the fitting. You can use a compression style 90* fitting but you have to be able to cut back where the crimp rings where on the plumbing so that it seals up.

Just wanted to let everyone know how to replace a broken fitting for the fresh water tank drain. I had asked the question earlier hoping to not have to remove the fresh water tank. After removing all the silicone from around the fitting, I found that it is a 1/2 x 1/2 FNPT swivel 90 degree PEX fitting. So it turned out to be fairly simple to remove and install a new one.

Rob,

Thanx for posting the repair with associated pictures, as the saying goes,
