Fresh water tank overflowing

I have had this happen 2 times in the last couple of months.
My fresh water tank will fill up with the water valve in the off position. I can't make it happen but it did it again today. Valve is off and the tank starts to fill then overflow. I only see 1 way to fill the tank and it's through the one valve that stays in the off position unless filling the tank. I have played with the valve and unless I open it no water comes in.
Anyway it can get in a backdoor way?
This is on a 2013 Anthem.
Thanks

Either thru FILL valve
OR
On board pump internal check valve not closing off so when using city water it backflows thru pump into fresh water tank

Sometimes just using the pump will clear any debris etc on the check valve (diaphragm) and allow it to close fully
Sometimes you have to disassemble pump and clean the check valve

remove line to check for flow when using city water
*which ever is easiest to access and remove/reinstall (pump suction line or line AFTER the fill valve)

In-line check valve can be installed on pump suction if that is cause and easier then pump removal/disassemble/reinstall

Your fill control valve is leaking. Replace it.

Bad advice NITEHAWK. Please know the facts before giving advice.

Lots of post here that can be found in the search function with that problem on the Classics. The easiest fix is J.H.'s post of installing a Sharkbite check valve in the water line. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/wat...-382906-2.html
Several post like this one, this was the first one I pulled up

Like Chuck said easiest way is the 1/2 inch shark bite check valve installed in the output line from the pump. It does not have to be next to the pump. Have someone go to passenger side and shake the output line while youíre on drivers side looking in wet bay. When you find the line cut it and install the check valve, arrow facing away from pump. It is a push connection so very easy.

Only problem with installation on pump discharge...pump check valve not closing then pump pressure will decrease, close pump pressure switch and pump will shirt cycle when using pump

Installation on pump suction line stops backflow thru pump when using city water AND prevents pump pressure from decreasing when using pump

I have been able to unstick the water pump valve by applying a little water pressure through the winterization valve using a garden hose and my hands to hold them together.

Won’t work on inlet side of pump. Pump doesn’t have enough suction to open check valve.
I’ve installed several on output side and you never know they’re there as far as pump operation.
ENTEGRA now installs a manual shutoff valve to use when hooked to city water. Only problem with that is if you forget to open it for travel you’ll be pulling over somewhere to open the valve when DW finds she doesn’t have any water to flush toilet or wash her hands.

Glad there's more than one way to do it.

Here's how I did it, before replacing my pump (Shurflo 4008 to 4048) and outside shower.

1. Fill a bucket half full.
2. If connected, make sure outside water source is off.
3. Turn on water pump.
4. Put long clear (winterizing) hose in bucket.
5. Open valve for the winterizing hose. Water should be drawn up from bucket in clear hose.
6. Place the outside shower end in the bucket and open shower cold water valve to allow shower to fill bucket while water is being drawn from bucket. I do this because the clear hose will empty the bucket quickly.
Run this for a few minutes and then turn off the shower and clear hose valve.

JMO

Cheers!

Lot of battles back and forth here. The battles are more interesting than the question.
