Front windshield Condensation
We are in some chilly weather and I have noticed our front windshield develops condensation on the inside, when I lifted the shades. I also noticed an American Coach next to us and his front windshield was crystal clear. Is this a common occurrence when it is colder outside that inside? Just curious.

Yep, every time you exhale you add moisture to the air. Do a little cooking, add some more moisture. Take a nice warm shower - well, you get the idea.
The coach next to you may have a dehumidifier of some sort running, or fan blowing on the windshield, or they are in a sunny spot and it cleared off. I think it's also worse when the windshield shades are closed - so maybe they opened theirs earlier than you did.

You have to have someway of getting the moisture absorbed or removed. I always left a roof vent open an inch or two.

Front windshield Condensation
We keep a couple of towels at the base of the windshield when we know this is going to happen. Don't want all that water repeatedly getting into the metal frame below. A squeegee from the dollar store also comes in handy. Don't remember how much we paid for it.
The problem is that if the humidity outside is high (raining), then ventilating your warm moist air with cold moist air accomplishes little. Warmer moist air will condense on a colder surface. Now if you were to keep the inside temperature equal to the outside temperature, you would have a solution.

I bought a small residential dehumidifier and leave the front curtain partially open. Problem solved.

In addition to the dehumidifier, I also put the dash air setting on "MAX" A/C so that it closes the vent to the outside air.

It's normal. I live in humid FL where we have been having some cold nights. The other morning my large picture window was covered with condensation.

We're also in humid central Florida (although the air masses associated with this cold snap are fairly dry) and have not had any problem with condensation on the inside of the windshiel.
One, we have a windshield cover on the outside, it may provide a slight bit of additional insulation. Two, whenever cooking or showering we turn on the ceiling exhaust fan in that area.

I was referring the picture window in my S & B. They are double pane and still get condensation when it's cold. I live on the water so I do have a little more humidity to contend with.

I tried to find a parking place at Flying J in Oregon last night. I was amazed at how many people were sleeping in their cars. They were the ones with fogged over windows.
