Fuel Filters
Just a quickie.
Changed both today - DRY.
Previously, with ISB motor & CAT motor had problems restarting and/or had to try and pre-fill.
I did 4 cycles of turning the ignition on and letting the pump run. Was encouraged when I saw the bowl on the primary fill after the second cycle.
Started right up - instantly, with maybe a hiccup for the first 2 or 3 seconds.
I was very pleased to have not spilled a drop of stinky diesel. My ISB had the filters in a tight location under the coach and I always wound up with diesel running down my arm. Also, apparently Mongo the gorilla was on vacation when my chassis was built, they were not that tight, and the effort to remove was not bad.

Good to know Bob. Were you able to change both at the same time, or one at a time then start?

Did them both at the same time. I had planned to do the primary, then start, and do the secondary. After doing the primary and seeing how quickly the clear bowl filled with the ignition cycle I decided to to both. BTW - there is no primer pump on my chassis. There were 2 fuel shutoff valves for each filter though.

Bob, were you able to find the Racor filter locally? I had to order mine through a marine supplier online. I filled mine up with fuel and it started right up no hiccups.

S3238
Boatstore.com $32.38 - way expensive shipping though.
No need to refill. You can see the bowl fill up with fuel after about the second key cycle.

I know I got it from them also. Cummins in Albuquerque told me the closest one they could locate was in Alaska! Probably in Dutch Harbor hehe. For CS owners going for service they should probably carry this filter with them.
