Larry, one thing mileage does tell is if something is wrong. When I was doing good to break 6 mpg I knew something was wrong. It was, my engine computer was not functioning at 100%.

The OP has a good running 600

Averaged 8.3 on my ISL while on last summer's 8,000 sojourn. Pulling 5500 lbs and typically running at 1750 RPM (63mph). Only ran the generator 30 hours so didn't adjust the avg for that.

Call Cummins, they make computer updates often.( I think we can thank the EPA for that) What year is the engine in your chassis? Mine is a year older than my coach and already had 13 updates....all of them needed for my performance.

On my previous coach I would try to have the Cummins updates done every couple of years. It free for the 5 year while under warranty, after that $99. I would stop at a Cummin Coach care for the updates. Nice over night stops with water, electric and good wifi.

You might want to put a few break in miles on it first.

6.8 here. What is the cost for the updates? Do I just call the Cummins mothership and ask, or do I contact the nearest Cummins facility and ask?

I believe any cummins dealer shop which is usually any good size diesel repair shop should have the software
to do updates on any cummins motor
It's a good idea to have them plug your motor in yearly as a rule of thumb.. that way they can clear any codes that might be there and also detect possible issues and also see if updates are available...

It has to be a Cummins shop. The software is proprietary, if another shop has pirated software it is not to be trusted. They use pirated software for "chipping" engines which is all computerized now. The pirated software will not have the factory updates.

The updates are "free" during the 5 year Cummins warranty. Any Cummins shop can do it. Mine was done in our over night parking spot at Ocala Cummis with a laptop. You can call nay Cummins Shop or Mothership, they are all tied into the same computer system.

Since I'm learning alot due to just getting the ISB300 in a Monaco Neptune I'll throw this out for education.

The trip up from Mobile to Michigan was between 65 and 69mph, 2100-2250 rpm, 8.84 mpg including a 45 minute stop and go in Nashville rush hour.

Are these numbers in range or should I be heading for Cummins right away? They did tell me the turbo had a little sticking due to it probably sitting for awhile without being used.

The fuel usage seems good but I'm not sure. Thanks for the constructive help.

Dale, that sounds reasonable considering the weight of your coach and the engine. An easy way to check would be to call Cummins with your S/N and see what they have in terms of updates.

Someone mentioned speeding up a bit, which I think absolutely applies on these Entegras.

Our Phaeton was in a happy place efficiency wise between 60-65 MPH. Our Entegra does pretty good at 65 and almost the same at 75 MPH, with only a small penalty (.2 MPG IIRC)
