Funny

i had a young robin decide to come and sit on my step and look at itself and peck at itself. i tried to shoo it away but it kept coming back and and pecking at itself that scratched the hell out of stainless kicker plate, finally had to put duct over stainless to make the little bugger leave me alone. anyone else had this happen?

No, but I have a chapparal that will peck at his own reflection in my office window here at home. Quite amusing. My Daschund will bark at him through the window. Doesn't affect the bird

This has happened to us many times. They see a reflection of themselves and peck at it. We have found a plastic owl out by where they are pecking sometimes keeps them away, sometimes not.The other alternative is to cover the reflecting source so they cannot see themselves.

Cardinals last year in the side mirrors, I had to cover the mirrors with Walmart bags securing them with wire ties. It's nesting season and birds are aggressive this time of year.

My S&B had a garden window that faced north. In midsummer the sun would reflect off the light-colored fence at the north edge of the yard, making the window very reflective. The young mockingbirds in the area would spend a good 8 hours a day banging on the window. It really reminded me of a bunch of teenagers.

My house at one time had one of those 1950s pedestals with one of those red "globes" (from a previous owner) sitting on top of it...... and for two years, a male cardinal would make war with himself (pecking) at his reflection on the globe.... he never figured out that it was himself. After two or three years of assaulting the red globe daily for hours, we didn't see him again and assumed that he had passed away. We sort of missed the little bugger.

We had one in Las Vegas. I just started pulling in the steps so he/she wouldn't have anything to stand on. I kept that up for about a week, seemed to work.
