Generator

Generator question,

I am running g my generator until the status indicates float, I noticed that there appears to be black soot (no smoke) on the slab and in the grass.

Any idea on what the issue might be?

Thanks

I would say probably perfectly normal. Especially if there is some moisture on grass. If your generator is not smoking I would think you are fine.

The experts will chime in.

Can you check to see if when warmed up the choke is opening all the way?

They are not that quiet and there is no choke on a diesel generator. They will all make a black spot on ground or concrete.

I think the quiet refers to the fact that you can set quiet times for starting and stopping on the EC-30 control panel. Only a guess on my part.

Later ...

The choke is in the carburetor.....you'd need to remove the air cleaner and then you'll see the choke plate, called a butterfly.....you can move it with your finger whether the genny is running or not....it should close when genny is cold and open when the genny warms up.....doesn't hurt to run it without the air cleaner off....if you're at elevation, then what you're seeing is probably normal....if it's a diesel then forget what I've posted....

Don’t confuse them it’s a diesel, no choke!

By the fact that you're on the Entegra Coach board, her signature line says she has an Entegra Cornerstone Coach (which is a diesel pusher) and standard equipment for the Cornerstone is a diesel generator?

A Onan " Quiet diesel " generator can be heard. All generators make some sound.

It is designed to run at lower RPMs when the load is low and only increase speed, and get louder, when you start to turn on more stuff.

A small amount of soot in the grass is normal.
