Talking Girard Awning Information

Just back from the Red Bay Girard service center. Great service. I had an appointment at 10:00. Arrived at 9:45 and was immediately directed into a service bay. Easy in and easy out. Repairs to awning took about 2 hours. Learned something about my awning that I have never read in any of the material. In the older awnings, the wind sensor is battery powered. In the new style of Girard awning, this sensor is hard wired. The life of a battery is about 5 years so for the last 3 years I probably have not had a working wind sensor. Explains why it did not work. Technician's personal recommendation is to replace the battery in the sensor every five years or sooner. Battery was $4.95.

For the change over from battery operated to hard wired must have been in 2014 for Entegra because mine is hardwired.
