Glass Panel

I'm a retired pilot, and in all my years flying one of the most fantastic innovations was the "glass panel". Now thanks to an iRV2 forum I found a glass panel that fits my new Anthem and looks, and functions much better than factory.

Check out this web site New Product Announcement! | SilverLeaf Electronics, Inc., this one is inexpensive and displays on the backup camera. But the one I like is a total replacement for the gauges currently installed with total engine and operation management. I'm surprised Entegra doesn't offer it as an option.

Have you installed it on your coach and. if so, how much was involved?

This looks very similar to the Trip Tek which is standard on the Cornerstone...

My coach is on order. But the display on the backup cam I believe is around $1200, the glass panel installed and looking fantastic around 12k. On my airplane was 125k!

The display on the backup cam appears to be very basic vs the Windows version and I am not sure it would be nearly as useful. $12K is way too much for this on an RV, even though I spent many times that much to have glass on my airplane. An RV is not an airplane, you don't have to fly it through the clouds to 200-1/2!

Aw, Instruments on airplanes are overrated. I close my eyes and use the force when I fly the B777. Now what would be nice is a three channel autopilot on my new Anthem so I could nap and drive. I do like that Silverleaf display and $1200 would be acceptable. $12,000 would not.

Yeah...but the Hog is so slow that you have time to pour a cup of coffee and drink it before you break that 200 and have to worry about the 1/2

The link goesto the VMS-330, which is an overlay system for your existing backup monitor. I added the Triptex version of that to my last coach and wasn't overly happy with having the screen cluttered so went with the VMS-240CL on this coach.

Silverleaf does make a VMS-640 glass dash. Maybe that's what you are referring to - Glass Dash | SilverLeaf Electronics, Inc. . I drove a Newell with that dash and it was nice. Easy to customize for whatever flavor layour and gauge design you like. Don't know how easy it is to retrofit to an existing coach though.

When we were coming in at 10000 mph over the west coast of California, in the space shuttle, we were totally dependent on both the three autopilots and the glass cockpit to get us slowed down and in position to land dead stick in Florida. Just saying! Noel

Let the experiment begin. I have ordered a wireless Bluetooth VMSpc unit ($395) and a Dell Venue 8 Pro Windows 8 tablet ($320 at Costco). I will test them out and if I am satisfied, I'll get a RAM mount for the tablet. Total cost with mount and shipping should be $800-$850 which is a steal if it does everything I expect it to do.

You can download VMSpc software for free and run it on any Windows computer to see what it will do. It seems highly capable and highly customizable. By the way, I was told that they now have a version of VMSpc that runs on Android, but I prefer Windows as this way I can run Street and Strips on the same device.
