Glue macerator hose fitting?

My Sani-Con hose split just aft of the rubber end fitting. Before buying a new 30-footer from Entegra ($434) or some other solution, I am trying to reattach the rubber end to the existing hose. I was able to ream out the old rubber(?) hose end so that I can reinsert the end of the flex hose, but I’m not sure what adhesive might work. Anyone know what the hose and the fitting are each made of? Both feel rubbery. The original adhesive was black and flexible. The hose is about five years old, so this may be a waste of time, but the sleeve looks perfectly fine, and Entegra parts apparently won’t sell just a hose.

I has been posted quite a bit that folks use a pool suction hose as a solid replacement also.

I am sure you can search here and find a pictographic how to for using a pool hose.

Also several post making your own "Entegra style hose" by purchasing the standard Sani-Con hose on Amazon, then the nylon sleeve, also on Amazon with links for a fraction of the cost. Also a few post on tricks to slide the sleeve on. Overall a big savings.

If the hose is 5 years old, like you said it might be a waste of time. At that age, my experience was the flexible material between the rigid spiral ages out and will begin failing all along the length of the hose. I was going to do what you are suggesting, but once I tried removing the fabric cover I realized the hose had become a sprinkler along most of its length.

You can buy a new hose without the fabric cover for much less, it is Thetford part 97521, currently under $90.

Be aware you may not be able to re-use the fabric cover from your old hose, the diameter might be too small to fit over the glued on cuffs on the new hose, at least that was my experience. I purchased this larger diameter cover which will fit over the cuffs.

Update

Thanks for the responses. My hose may very well be too old for salvage. Time will tell (maybe the first time I use it again!). However, I was able to “rebuild” the hose, and perhaps this information may be of some use to someone else. My hose split about one inch width-wise in the membrane between ridges very close to the end that connects to the pump plumbing. I cut off the hose from rubbery terminal piece and pulled out the camlock fitting. I cut off the torn section of hose (the spiral wire in the hose can be cut with wire cutters with some effort). The hose end was glued into the terminal piece with some sort of black flexible substance. First I tried inserting the camlock fitting directly into the end of the spiral hose and securing it with a band clamp. The clamp just tore the hose again. So I figured I would need to re-glue the hose inside the terminal piece. Maybe you can buy a new suitable end piece from a pool supply or something, but I was determined to re-use the old one. So I had to ream out the old hose material and rubbery adhesive to allow the hose to fit back inside the terminal piece. I spent a couple hours with a razor blade trying to cut it out with limited success. Then I found that using a one inch hole saw on my drill and working it in and around the inside of the terminal piece shredded the old hose remnant and rubbery glue nicely, allowing me to reinsert the hose. For a glue I settled on Flex Shot thick rubber adhesive sealant and let it cure for 48 hours. I did a pressure test for holding strength and leaks, and it worked! Now we’ll see how long before it splits again.

Thanks for the tip on Flex Shot. I am contemplating doing the same but on a larger waste hose.
