Good Sam Renewal
So I just received another Good Sam "renewal" letter in the mail today cautioning me to not let my benefits lapse. This happened about one month ago also and I called Good Sam to inquire. The CS representative told me I am paid up through
January 2024. This is very annoying and could be disconcerting if I were on the road in my RV. Anyone else plagued by this misleading correspondence?

They were trying to get me to renew 2 months after I first got it while shopping in a Camping World.
Later...

I dropped GS when the TSD fuel card came out. I get the same 10% discount at RV parks with FMCA or VA discounts. I haven't had a need for GS since. My road side is CoachNet, never any junk mail.

I've found that Good Sam is overly aggressive when it comes to renewals or upgrades in in their various service and insurance coverages. So much so that I've most of them lapse.

Mitigating Customer "Churn"
Well, you are experiencing desperate tactics to retain existing customers and therefore for Good Sam to be able to project assured revenue.
In business, customer 'churn' is the rate at which customers leave and enter a business relationship with you. If a company, like Good Sam (or AARP and FMCA as other good examples), has marketing objectives and metrics to keep churn below a given rate, in conjunction with new customer additions, then they will resort to the shady tactic of early renewal deception. As the linked article shows, it costs anywhere from 5-10 times as much to find new customers to replace old.
There have been some cases brought to court where elderly folks were duped into renewing several times and this created multiple accounts that they were paying for. See a more detailed explanation in the link below.
https://www.superoffice.com/blog/reduce-customer-churn/
When I was with IBM as a business process improvement consultant in the 2001-2002 period, we were tasked to set up processes to keep customers loyal to the Big Blue brand by providing early hardware and software renewal incentives. We had to gather data on the churn and market trends toward other tech company offerings and figure out ways to keep the customers we had.
In short, I have complained to AARP FMCA and Good Sam about their deceptive practices and threatened to go to my state's Attorney-General office of consumer affairs and the BBB to lodge complaints. At least my junk mail has reduced as a result.

Your post made me chuckle. I just opened two Good Sam letters a few minutes ago. One said I was losing my roadside assistance this month and the other said I'm losing my travel assistance in April if I don't renew now.
It is ridiculous how they go after people deceptively.
I'm going to call them and see what they have to say when I ask them to explain how this works since my membership doesn't expire until April 2025.

I don’t let the letters bother me they go straight to the trash unopened.
Folks are always talking about recycling and wasting paper. Why aren’t the tree huggers doing something about the ridiculous amount of junk mail? Credit card companies being the worst.
And don’t get me started on misleading phone and text solicitations.
My auto warranty is NOT about to expire! It doesn’t exist!

Since we locked our credit. We have not gotten any credit card companies solicitations. On the down side of that it is hard to open up a new account
when you want to.

It never stops
Whenever I walk into a Camping World I get the "I have a great deal for you" speech and am told that I can renew for a discount. I also receive the occasional letter. I have two years left on my "elite" card. It's just what they do.
I learned some time ago that if I find a better price online, Camping World does not honor the price unless I show it to them.

I went to order a Wineguard OTA antenna. I put in my shopping cart and when I got to entering CC I changed my mind. A few days latter I get a email saying I can purchase the antenna at a reduced price. After a few of these emails they stopped

My "Good Spam" mail never gets opened and goes right into the trash along with the rest of the day's spam mail. I know when it expires and don't use any of their "extras". I only keep it for campground discounts because many don't recognize FMCA when it comes to discounts and I rarely buy anything from Camping World.

I have GS-life so I don't get them since it never expires. However I still occasionally get ads for them. We got the lifetime membership when it first was offered but, if I could do it over, I would not get it. I haven't used it in years. I can get stuff cheaper at Amazon, E-trailer, and other sites. My latest telemarketer calls is for "final expenses" coverage. They must know something.😁
