Greater Denver , Co. Campground recommendation

We might be visiting a Family member in the Denver suburb of Westminster, Co.
We found Dakota Ridge RV Resort and are wondering if anyone has stayed there ? Satisfied ? Or alternative recommendation ? We don't need FANCY just don't want a rundown tight not proper for our coach campground.

Thanks .

Brain, Denver is getting tough! Dakota Ridge is nice, but getting outdated and tight. Best parks going are the local state parks. They are all new from the lottery money. Cherry Creek Reservoir and Chatfield Dam on the south side of town. Dakota Ridge is the only thing close to Westminster. The one on 44th in Wheatridge is bad. Old park, premanate residents, across the street from TA truck stop and I-70. Clear Creek RV Park in Golden is nice, but usually a year wait with locals, however there might be a cancellation.

We stayed at Prospect RV park campground in Wheatridge this summer. Wasn't bad. Little or no shade. Tight spaces so it depends on the size of your rig. Basic campground with few amenities although the showers and laundry were passable. Just there to sleep a few nights while we explored some of my old haunts around Denver. No kids. So it met our needs.

We are staying at Prospect Park for a week beginning next week as it was the closest to our family in Arvada. Got pretty decent reviews on Allstays. We have a toad so will only being sleeping there as we will be pretty busy. Family is just outside the Westminster city line. Amazing how such a popular tourist area has little to none in the way of RV parks. Guess land is just too expensive?

Stayed at Dakota Ridge in 2019 while visiting friends. It is tight - we have 37 footer - but doable. Everything worked and we weren't there for any other reason than to see friends so certainly didn't look for anything in way of facilities.

A little north of Westminster but Loveland RV Park is very nice. Nicely accessible and good shade, good wifi, close to 25 for the drive south.

Great county park in Lyons a bit west of Westminster right against the foothills but only 16 slots so availibilty might be poor.

Lazy Dog is in Westminster (470/25). Good food, drink, big shaded patio. Your furry kid is welcome. They also have a dog menu

We stayed at Dakota Ridge and it was a nightmare. They insisted on guiding me into the rv spot. In doing so they guided my motorhome into a tree branch. The branch had to be cut off. Minor damage but damage. I called my insurance and they said it was my fault because I was the driver. After thinking about it they were right. I did go to the office and ask if they would compensate by lowering the daily rate and was told no. There is no way I could recommend this park. Too tight and too tight in the wallet.

UPDATE : Dakota Ridge

As the original Poster I thought I would update , Please realize this is our experience and thoughts and we certainly realize others have had or may have a different experience : We chose to stay at Dakota Ridge purely for the location to our Grand Daughter and location at the base of sites such as Buffalo Bills grave , dowtown Golden , Denver Zoo etc.

Dakota Ridge absolutely IS NOT a Resort but also IS NOT the worse campground we've ever stayed at and all size Rigs can be accommodated .

The Work Camper Couple that checked us in and escorted us to our site were very good at their jobs and he positioned us on our site perfectly. The trees were recently trimmed and not an issue. The sites are for the most part very level even the the Campground is not but the sites are narrow with very tight sitting area and a lot of the sites are Buddy Style with your neighbor. 50 Amp / W / S are all good and the sites are neat but the road network could use pothole or total resurfacing .
Unfortunately a trail up an Overlook in the Park is closed due to lack of maintenance of the stairs and walking path. It appears that RVINN needs to put money back into the campground and that isn't happening.

All in all though it's a decent place to stay for a few days passing thru the area !
