Has anyone replaced a windshield and or refrigerator?

Discovered a crack in the windshield this morning after re-leveling yesterday. Looks like we took a rock right on the rubber gasket on the top of the windshield. Re-leveling must have stressed the chip. Got full glass coverage, no worries. But DW wants to replace the Samsung refrigerator with a GE profile to match or new GE Advantium micro/conv. With the windshield out, good time to do the swap I think. Just checking for experience on either from anyone. What haven't I though about?

Did this in a previous coach. Absolutely the time to do it is when the windshield is out anyway.

Can the door locks on the Samsung be moved to the new fridge? Or can you get new ones that will work?

Fit is the same?

Securing the new one won't be a problem?

I'd keep the Samsung.
Also, check the warranty for a refer in an RV, some don't cover RV use, Samsung does which is why there as so many out there.
We have the Advantium but no planes to remove the Jenn Air refer so they match!

I like my Sammy. But if you're set on the swap - definately now is the time the windshield is out.

If you're not having trouble with the Samsung why replace it? Just to have a match?

Not replacing to have a match so much but DW doesn't like the Samsung. Not enough lights, she hates the ice maker the way that it dispenses, etc. Me, I keep my beer out side. As long as it keeps the vittles cold I'm OK, but you know how it is. I've disposed of perfectly good refrigerators before when she lost the love. Got to keep the little woman happy.

Doggie

Are refer was dead from the factory. When the dealer swapped the refers they removed the driver's side window and laid the driver's seat flat. The refer was swapped using a forklift and four big guys. If your windshield was out, it'd be easy, but I wouldn't swap it out just because rather windshield was out. IMHO

We had to change out the original Samsung and went through the driver's side (toll) window. One problem I had was finding a replacement that fit the hole, height and width, then to limit the choice even more the refer is a "counter depth" model. Make sure the refer you want is available in counter depth and will fit your space. (FYI, we did our fridge with 2 big guys, 1 small guy and NO forklift)

Yea in talking with folks at the factory the default way in/out for the fridge is driverside window. However, if you already have the windshield out that woul likely be the easier route to take.

If your anywhere near me I'd happily buy that Samsung from you. we need a nice beer fridge in our home basement :-)

Update

Working with insurance on the windshield. Found a GE Profile refer model
PYE22PSHSS. direst replacement same height, width, and depth. Also has lights for the freezer. Looks like Southhaven RV in Mississippi can do the work, the rest is logistics. Wondering now what to do with the Samsung. Donate? To who?

You could put an ad on Craigslist, buyer can pick it up at the dealer. Any of the larger charities, Salvation Army, Disabled Vets etc. have trucks and will pickup.
