Heat pump won't turn off
Strange problem - hoping the collective brilliance assembled here can guide me.
Heat pump on zone 2 activates at the temperature it should (say 68 degrees) but then will not cycle off - I manually shut it down and it reads 75 degrees. The other two units do not behave this way.
Also - may be related, even though electric heat mode is selected, the little flame icon shows up after a while (only for zone 2) despite being in electric mode with the furnace turned off.
Thermostat, Sensor, heat pump or something else.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions where to troubleshoot.

Bob, If your thermostat has a fuse under the cover, try removing that for 20 minutes to reboot the thermostat.

Bob,
On 2015s and later (I believe), if the temp drops below what the heat pump will heat (40-42 degrees ambient outside), the system will "ask" for assistance from the AH. If you have the AH on electric, you'll hear the floor heat registers running, but since the electric doesn't really run enough hot, the registers will come on for a shorter period and more often (that's what the flame is representing). During that time, the heat pump will not blow warm air, so, if you know the temps are going to drop below 40 deg overnight, better to just switch to the diesel burner AH.

Dave, that explanation makes sense to me. Though it was above 40, the temp inside the coach was 75 and the ceiling registers were blowing hot air. Also zone 1 and 3 did not exhibit this behavior. Believe me, I would use the diesel burner if it was not on a UPS truck somewhere on its way back from Roger Berke.

No joy on the fuse under the cover. There is one (F21) in the cabinet.

I have had wacky things with my # 2 unit and rebooting the thermostat fixes it every time. Good luck.

Another condition that would cause AH to come on while in heat pump mode is a demand >8 degrees. I know zones 1 and 3 work this way on my 16Anthem. With zone 2 being floor not sure how that would work in this scenario. Without trying it again I'm certain the heat pump continued to run even though the AH was running. My guess is it's not programmed to shut off automatically once the AH takes over.
This was my first time starting up furnace so thinking it was jacked I shut it all off until I could get more familiar with it.
Not sure any of this will help. I'm still barely 3 level when comes to this HVAC system.

That thermostat is a pretty complicated piece of technology, especially on No. 2, Zone 2 electric on thermostat is of course the heat pump but two gas is in-floor heat and not registers as they are controlled by zone 1. So you can have heat pump heat while on zone two but not register heat. AND when on heat pump there are several thermostat selections to choose from(high fan, low fan, auto high and auto low. On the latter two the fan will shut down with the heat pump when desired temp is reached, on the first two when temp is reached the heat pump shuts down but the fan continues to run. Handy for sure but takes a little getting used to. All JMHO

FWIW, (and Bob, when your AH is back up), I set up now (after PJ's suggestion), I leave the burner on #2 on gas and electric, to heat the floor. I don't use the #2 for heat pump (although I do switch between #1 and #2 for AC during the Summer to even out the usage a little on #1).
Doing the above, after the floor (#2 sensor) starts reading 81 deg, a rarely hear the AH gas burner come on as the electric seem to be enough to maintain floor heat (I hear the pump running) and it keeps the floor generally cozy. Then I use the #1 and #3 heat pumps. As PJ suggested, the floor really does help heat the coach from below (warm air rises after all), and reduces the amount of electric usage with the heat pumps on #1 and 3. When the temp forecast is below 41, then I switch #1 and #3 to gas for the night (but as suggested, I don't think the AH runs as much as the way I previously neglected getting the floor up to heat and keeping it there as suggested earlier). JMHO

Dave - you pretty much described the way I normally have mine set up.
UPS says the burner is in Lubbock and out for delivery, so hopefully the status quo will resume shortly.

Just had the same issue with my front heat pump. Set point for Zone 1 Front was at 68 and temp sensor was reading 78 degrees. Heat pump would not turn off.
What I did was reboot the VegaTouch and turn off then back on the circuit breaker for the front AC unit. Problem has not repeated.
