Help with Generator Starting
Unfortunately, I let the house batteries go dead. I have the engine running, but I need to get the generator running. Any idea how I can get that done?? No lights on the generator and house batteries are at 5v...
Thanks for any help

With the coach engine running , can you hold the emergency start switch ( boost ) and then try starting the gen set?

Yeah, tried that... no joy. I think that switch only lets you start the engine from the house batteries

The battery boost switch works both ways. If you push and hold the battery boost switch for several minutes you may get enough power back into the house batteries to start the generator. With he batteries being that low it may take quite a while but I would not hold the boost switch down for more than 5 minutes.

Glad you got it going. Now, leave the generator running for several hours to get the house batteries recharged. Wait until the inverter panels show that they are in Float charge at least.

I had the same situation yesterday but fortunately the storage lot manager had a big rolling charger and got enough charge in my house batteries to get the generator to start. Then my toad wouldn’t shift the 4WD transfer case into Neutral... what a day.

I had the same problem after leaving my coach at a Spartan shop for a week so they could fix a CEL. I just let the engine run for about 20 minutes. That put enough charge into the house battery to start the gen. I let it run for about three hours, then plugged it in to shore power (110v) It's all good now

A golf Tee works to hold the switch down instead of your thumb.
