The vast majority of Cummins engines actually built in 2016 or later fit this description. Be careful of coaches that may be model year 2016 (or even 2017) that may have an engine built before 2016. For instance my coach is a 2021 Entegra but the engine was manufactured in September of 2019. The issue here is the EPA mandates for DEF quality measurements took effect in 2016. The engines that are compliant with the newest EPA Regs are referred to as EPA 13/EPA 17 engines.

I have a 2017 Cornerstone chassis date is 11 or 12/2015 checked the DEF connector and its a 5 pin round weatherpack.

Are you sure you are looking at the DEF sensor cable? I have never seen or heard of a 5-pin cable nor a round connector. I’m not doubting what you say but I would be very interested in seeing your DEF sensor cable connector. Also I’m not sure what a weather pack is. Any chance you could post a quick photo of your connector?

You win the scavenger hunt for today. That is the first connector on a DEF like that. And on a Shaw product. It looks like a miniature version of the under-dash diagnostic connectors. Thanks, now I know.

Being it is a 2015 chassis, it is the DEF head without the sensors. They probably used different plug then.

That was my thought too - we keep learning and discovering more about this stuff.

With coach engine off, locate your DEF head cable and unplug it from the mating connector. Plug the simulator into where your DEF head was connected. Start engine and verify no codes/check engine lights. DEF level should show about 75%.

DEF Sensor
You may get the code when you first start the coach. Just follow the procedures for resetting the codes
- run the coach at high RPM (2,000-2,500) for 5min. Shut off the coach.
- do the above procedure 2-3 times. (Our 2019 Phaeton only took two cycles and upon firing up the coach for a third time the codes were clear).

Ive never heard of this method before and 2000-2500 rpm seems excessive. Is it a Spartan thing? Ive been in FL shops and spoken to the FLT-HELP techs with emissions code issues, and this has never been mentioned.
Even a parked regen only needs 1100-1200 rpm, but if anything this 2000-2500 rpm thing seems to relate more to the DPF than the DEF system - there is really not much correlation between DEF delivery and monitoring. Maybe running at high rpm for five minutes will cause some demand for DEF and allow the system to confirm it is functioning?
Is there documentation on this procedure? At this point in my emissions familiarization and reconciliation quest, Ive found its best to have diagnostic, and code-clearing capabilities.

Thanks Arches2, Voltoc and all others for the hard work to solve this DEF issue. I now feel I can drive my Cornerstone with less fear.
Quick clarification, please.
I did not have had any code so far. How do I test my built DEF Simulator to make sure it will work should I get a code in the future?
Thank you.
Tony

Go to your Def tank, locate and unplug the Def tank connector that matches the one you just built. Do this with the ignition off. Plug in the DSS to the connector you just unplugged.
Go turn the key and do a routine start up that you would normally do. Monitor all dash lights and watch for trouble lights. What should happen is all dash lights should come on to test as normal, then all go out. The Def gauge should read about 3/4 full. Put the engine on high idle (about 1000 rpm) and let it run for about 5 minutes. All dash gauges should operate as normal. If after 5 minutes there has been no trouble lights or codes displayed, you are done.
Shut down engine, and reverse the procedure of hooking up the DSS. Store it away and hope you never need it.
