I think the free market system is a better solution vs a class action suit.
Everyone should call / email and otherwise bug their coach/chassis manufacturers and tell them that the want the Shaw sensors OUT of their coach and that will be a criteria for selecting new coaches down the road as well.
Once Spartan or Tiffin steps up and starts delivering a better product from a different manufacturer, the others will have to follow suit. At least that's how this industry seems to work.
I'm already doing my part :-)

Report Environmental Violations
For those concerned about EPA violations, here's a handy link: https://echo.epa.gov/report-environmental-violations
It contains this statement: If you are seeing an environmental event that may lead to an immediate threat to human health or the environment, call 911, then report it to the National Response Center at: 1-800-424-8802.
If you're so inclined, file the report or make the call.
Personally, I'm too busy replacing over aged o-rings to spend time turning somebody in that's just trying to keep his rig rolling along while converting NOx into nitrogen and water, just like the EPA has directed, even though some sensor has malfunctioned.
Take care,
Stu

Then I use a refractometer to measure the urea % and enter that and the device then reports those values for the next 55 minutes. Now would you say that I have met the requirements for EPA-accepted DEF tank parameter reporting? Now let’s say I do the same thing but every 4 hours. Still OK? How about once before I start the engine and then again when I park? See the problem? The Regs specify the results expected from the systems, not the technology used to achieve them. Do you actually know what the Regs do require of DEF tank sensors? What is the exact wording and what’s the legal definition of each one of those words taken both separately and together?
However, the bottom line is here’s a device to solve the problem you were complaining about. It’s free. Use it or don’t use it, I don’t really care but I am done debating the issue with people who haven’t personally done one single thing to address the problem and who just want to play an endless game of devil's advocate.

I don't know why you addressed this post to me! I am not arguing legality about anything, only pointing out a faulty premise in someone else's post.
I have never made an argument in this thread for or against the use of the emulator, or its legality.

As soon as I see a detailed step by step set of directions, I will be laying out the money for an Arduino board. I'm comfortable with basic manipulation of electronic boards and connections but I haven't done board level programming for 20 years or more and never in that "language" so I am going to have to be led by the hand. If a complete kit was available, I would have already gotten out the AMEX card.
The cable between the J1939 and the board says 2-3 weeks delivery. I'm on the road and 2 to 3 weeks is an insurmountable problem as I have no idea where I will be (I was heading to South Lake Tahoe for a good buddy reunion at a friend's house, but all plans and flights were cancelled yesterday as my friend's house is likely to burn to the ground in the Calder fire.) So we are are aimless at the moment.
Anyhow, once I resolve availability and shipping and programming, I will be buying boards and cables. If Entegra, Spartan, and Cummins will not come through and help me avoid being stranded, then I will help myself. It is stunning the hesitation of these companies to help their owners!! What a complete mess this is from Shaw up the line.... You companies have no guts at all.

Gary, I suspect there’s a lot more going on behind the scene than is known. I wouldn’t get too hasty about laying out money for something that you may never use.

Jerry:
I pray that your speculation is correct, but this mess has been going on for two or three months at a very serious level/risk to owners, and we have seen nothing worth a crap up to this point other than meaningless blather
These memory traces will not fade quickly.....

Try this alternate (and possibly better) alternative for the cable. You’ll have to cut the female receptacle off the end and use an ohmmeter to identify which wires are connected to which pins but that shouldn’t be too hard.

I did not see much in that article about contacting this group. I wonder how you'd get the details? Seemed like the comments left it at "coming soon".

Also for Gary. You are imagining way more difficulty than there really is. You will just need to download a zip file and double-click on it. It’ll unpack the install files to a directory, ready to install. You may have to edit a text file to make sure that whichever USB /COM port # your cable between the computer & the board is connected to and edit if necessary (the installer can’t know ahead of time which USB port your specific computer assigns). As far as the cable goes. At its core it’s just 4 wires connected to a standard, off the shelf Deutsch-brand DT series automotive male plug. Nothing special about it. It could be easily assembled with a soldering iron or a crimping tool. The connector can sometimes be found at a good auto parts store, 4 conductor cable at Home Depot. I’m just trying to give you some already assembled, turn-key options.

Hey Gary.Jones
Hi Gary, on second thought it is probably better if you wait until more of the details are nailed down. I would hate for you to waste any of your time or money at this stage. In another week everything should be much less variable and more locked down and turnkey. So why dont you just monitor the boards and wait for the all-clear?

Lets face reality like it really is. We have to pay off the politicians, lobbyists, EPA, def manufacturer before this problem is solved.
