Hilton Head.. Anyone going this week?
Recap of our damage on the "Road to Hilton Head Rally".... After 4 weeks of waiting for a precise, itemized list of replacement doors, etc, The " insurance company " went ahead without that input and sent a check for $5,900,that will not cover the needed repair, painting, etc. Today, we received this letter ( did they stop payment?) and it looks like we screwed... It states that since we encountered a stationary object, they are unable to recover our deductible or any monies we have paid on this claim since you were found , at fault, for striking a stationary object. ( too bad that rebar was not dancing around)..Has anyone encountered a situation such as this?

Where did you have the estimate done? Is the insurance company saying you are not covered?

You will be stuck with the deductible but the balance of the repair should be covered. Let the repair facility work it out with the insurance company. I can't speak to your other cost but discuss this with the repair facility as they deal with this type of situation all the time. They should be able to work it out for you.

Yes, you are quite correct on that. We will be totally covered, except for the deductible. The letter was computer- generated, and should not have been sent the day after the partial check. The damage occurred October 18, and the dealer will finally look at the damage and submit the final tally of parts, and a new check to cover all will be sent! Whew..
