Would be funny, if not so very scary... Thanks,

I would have doubts as to anyone being dumb enough to use bungy cords as safety chains, although it’s possible I guess.I would bet he was using the cords for holding wiring up from dragging too low. He was probably the type who didn’t appreciate anyone questioning what he was thinking.

Gary, they "might" have been safety cables at one time, but they were frayed and wrapped around his hitch in short pieces when he pulled in (he had the bungees attached - they were actually fairly new...)

I don't remember the brand of coach, but it was really a mess - actually covered with "moss" in areas, and his hitch was as scary as his coach...

Also, as a resident of TN, I'm often amazed how many RVers travel through the state without an aux brake (3000 lb.+) Thanks,

BG

Getting back to the original topic, be certain to look through the manuals for your specific model to find the exact hitch capacity, the maximum tongue weight AND be certain to find out what the maximum drop level for the ball hitch is in order to operate at the rated capacity. I was a bit surprised to discover in some of the fine print that the ball hitch drop spec for my 2016 Anthem 44B is 4"...the 15,000# tow rating for my coach assumes that the drop in the ball hitch is no more than 4". If you need a lower ball level to accommodate the height of whatever you may be towing and you use a ball hitch with more drop than the specs allow, the capacity of your hitch needs to be reduced.

I have nothing against stupid people. I just think we should take all the labels off and net nature take its course.
