HOPPER 3, WHERE did you install

Where in your Entegra did you put it?
Did you put the DPH42 switch on the roof or a other location?

I do not have an Entegra but I am considering installing it inside the forward AC cover on my Bounder.

HOPPER 3, WHERE did you install

I have a 2016 Cornerstone 45A and the Hopper 3 was way too deep for the cabinet with the remaining equipment. I cut the side out of the drawer below the equipment, drilled a hole for wires to go through. I have an IR repeater placed below the Hopper 3 and bought a 90 degree adapter for the cable. Below is a picture. I decided I could repair the drawer if desired, but this fits perfectly for the Hopper 3 with an external drive on top. I take the external drive between the RV and Home systems.

I just slid ours into the a/v cabinet above the fireplace (44B)

I currently have a hybrid LNB on the Trav'ler. I have to reach in and unplug the Hopper, wait for it to find the sats, then plug the hopper back in.

I have the DPH42 switch, when I install it the switch will go on the roof, and the power injector in the cabinet.

I added a third coax cable from the Trav'ler into the compartment behind the bedroom TV. I mounted the DPH 42 Switch under the shelf in that compartment with the Hopper 3 on the bottom of the compartment. I put 2" on wood strips under the back edge of the Hopper 3 to get clearance for the rear cabling. Photos

Funny, we have the same cabinet above the fireplace but the depth is 2-3 inches less than needed by the Hopper 3. No reason I can see that they made it that way since there is a lot of empty space behind the cabinet. Looks like they corrected the problem in other versions of the same layout.

I have the DPH42 switch in the basement storage small compartment to the rear of the slide out tray compartments on the door side. I found where the wires from the roof were connected and I just used Velcro to secure the switch. And I had a power outlet in that compartment. I use a Eufy automatic switch that I plug the Hopper into. It uses a phone app that allows me to easily turn off power prior to moving. This locks the hard drive to avoid any potential damage due to driving.

Mike, so you had 3 wires already coming down to the basement from the traveler?

I like the drawer setup except it looks pretty tight for air flow. Dish receivers run hot. I have muffin fans on the end of the Hopper 3 and an exhaust fan for the cabinet.

Yes, I had 3 wires already coming to the basement. I put a signal tester on the end at the roof to determine each with a toner in the basement. I’m not sure if this was standard wiring or if anything was added when I purchased it used and asked for the conversion from DirecTv to Dish. The dealer installed a Wally but I could not deal with a single tuner so I purchased the Hopper 3 and switch and modified myself.

Regarding airflow, I am finding that it is staying cool to touch with the side ventilation and having a bit of room above and below for airflow. I will qualify that we don’t like heat so we chase temperatures that are 70’s or less. Currently in southern Washington coast with daytime highs in the 50s and 60s.

Hmmm, wierd. I've used a signal tester from the roof, I get tone from the trav'ler to the main TV on one cable, and the second to the bedroom tv.
What do your cables go to in the basement?

I had a bunch of hassle with the hybrid LNB, after moving cables and trying found the hopper has to be on "A" on the LNB, and the trav'ler control box "A" has to be on the LNB "C", to avoid a "no LNB power" or "wrong port" messages.

It took so many trips on and off the roof that I'm nervous about going to the DPH42 (which Amazon brought 3 days after I got the current setup working as right as it will.)

Or, you can eliminate the hassle of installing the DPH42 switch, or disconnecting the SAT feed while acquiring satellites by installing a RFMogul antenna. Just hit the switch, open a beer, and in 2-3 minutes watch the game in High Def.

X2 for the RFMogul.

Thanks to all the coaching in this forum, we are having the RF Mogul installed on the new coach. (outside of Entegra) If I want to change providers, just change the LNB, load new program onto a thumb drive and it's done.
If new satellites are added or changed as DISH did several year ago, just a new program instead of a new Sat antenna, been there on that one.

The RF Mogul made a lot of sense. To run a Hopper 3 it is just a matter of which LNB I want on the system. Cost was less than the Traveler.
