Hose Leak Rear

I have a blue hose in the rear underside of coach it is 5/8", blue and says heater hose. I am in South Dakota after hours and wondering if it is loop related or engine coolant. Does anyone happen to know? Just trying to get an idea before morning.

5/8" is common heater hose size .

Can you pin point a single spot for the leak ?

There are repair joints available , 5/8" OD X 3" copper pieces + two clamps and your mobile .

It's too dark now. So it does say heater hose, so is it leaking aquahot or radiator fluid? Could not tell color tonight.

Check coolant reservoir , for low level .

Black is normal color for the dash heater loop , but chassis manufacturer may have up graded ( red or blue ) to a heavier duty hose .

The fact that it's blue could mean it's one of the aquahot lines for engine preheat or hot water preheat from the engine.
Later...

You should be easily able to determine if the leak is from the AquaHot system. The expansion tank is in the bay with the cord reel. Since the boiler transfer fluid quantity is much less than the engine coolant quantity, even a relatively small leak of the boiler transfer fluid should show a low level in the AquaHot expansion tank.

Also, IF it is engine coolant leaking and you can't easily stop the leak, you can use your fresh water supply to replenish the coolant. I'd only do that as a last resort to "limp" to a service location. That would necessitate a coolant system flush and refill after the leak was repaired. Still, IMHO, that might be better than being "stuck" in some location. I've even read of folks who opted to be towed to a repair facility because their coolant level was low due to a leak.

Good luck.

Takke care,
Stu

The aquahot engine loop is engine antifreeze, not boiler fluid. I don't believe aquahot would allow a manufacturer to use heater hose on their system , the exception being the engine loop.

It does not appear to be leaking after engine cooled. Thank for the responses, I will report back. I have a gallon of both fluids with me.

If it is 5/8” and blue it may be a silicone engine coolant line running to the def tank.

Not sure, Spartan says if its blue it is not one of thier lines. Entegra is not sure, at a Loves in Elder SD, going to try to get it spliced. I think it is coolant which my mechanic at home thinks it's a heater line that runs to the dash. Anyway glad somebody can look at it

That’s interesting, just modified one of my coolant lines running to the newly installed def head and it was definitely blue which was originally Spartan installed and not Entegra.

It is definately blue, and is leaking final charge. I just crossed into Pennsylvania, used four gallons so far. I expect to be in Pa for a few weeks before heading back to Florida. I called the Cummins folks and need to check Monday about getting the part and to the dealer to get it fixed.
