Just finished up replacing all four of the factory original relion batteries with new Rolls-Surette L-16 AGM, $630 ea. including freight and tax out of Miami to Central Florida. This was not an easy DIY.
The batteries weigh around 127lbs. each, so make sure you can man-handle that much weight. The new Rolls batteries felt about twice as heavy as factory original. NOTE: It is a VERY cramped working environment, and the battery box enclosure has only about 6 inches clearance from top of battery to top of the enclosure. Very tight when slinging metal wrenches and ratchets around in there to tighten the lugs. Make sure you mark all wiring as you take it loose so it will be easy to re-install.
We also found the lug bolt size on the Rolls batteries were two sizes larger than factory original. Go figure...rather than re-crimp new terminals, we reamed out the inner bore of the ring terminals out to slightly larger hole size.
Use a large rag or towel under the batteries to slide across the bay carpet, makes them easier to move around, but still a bear to hump the batts in and out of the bay.
Slow and methodical is the name of the game. You do NOT want to drop a wrench across the terminals! And make sure to disconnect your solar panels from the solar controller (if you have one) before disconnecting all the wiring from the battery bank.
As I said, not easy, but can be done with some planning.
